ready for anything [open hunting patrol]

Badgermask had risen early for this hunting patrol, and was none too happy about it. Only half-awake and fairly grumpy, she sat for a long moment near the entrance of the warriors' den, grooming her long, thick fur into manageable tidiness. The warrior was not a fan of the hotter months - with Leaf-fall and Leafbare, it was easy for her to keep warm, thanks to her coat, but now? Everything was sticky and hot and disgusting, and she just wished it would be over with already. Eventually, Badgermask made her way towards the tunnel, and then sat to wait for the others to join her.

Quaildock yawned as he padded towards Badgermask. He softly lifted his tail in hello, before sitting down. "Morning." He mewed to her.

Shrikesong noticed her former apprentice at a patrol. The brown she-cat probably should join in, if just to stretch out her legs for a bit. The brown she-cat needed to move around instead of sitting in camp all day. She was fit enough to go on hunting patrols anyways, and maybe she should stretch her legs a little more. "Good morning, Badgermask," she said, padding towards the gathering patrol. As the days passed, it was clear that Shrikesong needed to interact with her clanmates a little more, rather than just sitting in her den for most of the day. Smiling to Badgermask (though the brown she-cat honestly didn't know how much of it she faked it) Shrikesong sat next to Quaildock, preparing to gather a patrol.

Dovefrost had been sitting outside of his den, taking in the sun for a moment when he saw a gathering patrol. There was a slight pull in his chest. A longing to go out with them.. There wasn't any rule against it. Yeah he had things to do but he had plenty of time.. He debated for a moment inside his head before approaching the three warriors. "Mind if I tag along?" He asked.

One by one, Quaildock, Shrikesong, and Dovefrost joined her, none of them looking particularly enthused to be up this early, not that she blamed them. She meowed a good morning in return to Quaildock, and greeted her mentor with an affectionate murmur, flicking her fluffy tail against Shrikesong's haunch and glancing up at Dovefrost as he approached. The warrior blinked in surprise at his request - obviously she knew that medicine cats weren't forbidden from hunting, but it was a foreign concept to her.

"Not at all," she mewed in return, glancing around at the group. Eventually, they made their way out into the territories, and Badgermask split off a little from the rest of them, nose to the air as she padded quietly through the trees. The scent of a hare crossed her just before the creature burst out of the bushes before her. Badgermask was hot on its tail, and caught up in just a few strides, swiping her paw across its hind legs and making it stumble. The warrior was right on top of it, and she leaped with it, together predator and prey rolled in a dusty heap until finally the dappled she-cat came up with the hare in her jaws, victorious.

Quaildock waved his tail sleepily in hello towards the other cats, smiling warmly at them. He then followed after Badgermask, padding through the territory. He watched as Badgermask spilt off from the group, and figured he would do the same, walking off into the opposite direction. A squrriel caught his eye, and he slowly padded towards it, body crouched close to the ground.

And then, without a second thought, he leap, pouncing onto the squrriel, and biting down on it's neck, gifting it with a quick death. He picked up the limp body of the squrriel, and padded back to where he last saw the others, and buried it, being sure to put some leaves and sticks on top of it, before going off to search for more prey, if he could find any.
