Disharmony [Closed]

A solo patrol wasn't really a patrol was it? It didn't really matter too much for Batglow. He had been finding something familiar, something he couldn't quite identify near the borders as of late, but never really crossing over into them. It was strange really. Something like this catching his interest that he had been stepping out of camp more and more often to try to find answers but never finding any.

It seemed though, here by the Thunderclan border, the scent faded. It wasn't around like it was when there was no border with another clan. Strange. Batglow paused in his steps as a Monster roared right on by. No matter how many times he had seen them, he could help but tense every single time. Those things were frightening. As soon as the monster was well and gone, Batglow let his gaze drift over to the other side of the border. Yellow green eyes scanning the other side carefully. Hopefully no trouble would be found today..

As she approached the dark, sweeping plane at the edge of ThunderClan’s territory, Thrushnose picked up her pace. Though nearly two moons had gone by since Asylum’s departure from the forest, the novelty of getting to visit other Clans’ borders—even borders as loud and smelly as this one—again had yet to wear off. In a way, it had inspired her. An idea had latched onto her mind like a leech. She’d thought of it before, but after seeing Asylum storm through, she’d run out of arguments against it.

However, her purpose today was different. A round puffball of a mouse scurried toward the Thunderpath’s broad swath of not-stone, its ears hardly visible above the thinning grass. It darted across the border without a moment’s hesitance. Thrushnose, meanwhile, stopped short. Crossing the Thunderpath wouldn’t have been her first choice, but she’d been out hunting for a while; she couldn’t come back to camp empty-pawed. When she glanced down the path, she saw only one monster. It raced by quick enough to rustle her whiskers. Once it was out of sight, she burst into a sprint. Her paws hit grass safely on the other side, and she raised her head to the breeze, trying to find the mouse through the fresh monster scents.

A blur of fur near by caught the Shadowclan warriors attention. His gaze turned towards the cat that had just crossed the border, unaware of the black tom standing near by. Yellow green eyes stayed on the Thunderclan warrior for a moment watching to see what they were doing before he made a move. As soon as he saw Thrushnose was scenting to hunt, Batglow sprang into action, rushing towards the warrior before tackling Thunderclan warrior to the ground.

Utterly focused on her quarry, Thrushnose didn’t notice the tall, lanky shape of another cat until it was a tail-length away and speeding closer. A startled hiss escaped her as she toppled. Right—though the monsters hid the scent line, this side of the Thunderpath was ShadowClan’s. Even as that realization took shape, she found herself kicking up at her opponent's belly with claws extended, using the resulting opening to roll back onto her feet and shuffle further from the Thunderpath’s edge. The mouse was as good as gone, but she wouldn’t turn her back on a fight; it would make for good practice, if nothing else. She hunched her shoulders, eyes flashing as she braced for another blow.

Thrushnose used Belly Rake, dealing 12 damage and using 10 stamina.

Batglow didn't understand why the cat had continued to fight after she seemed to realize that this was not her territory. The black tom let out a growl as he took the damage, but he pushed himself to move away rounding the warrior, grabbing her tail in his maw and yanking hard. He needed to stun her for a moment and take advantage of the moment.

Batglow used Tail Yank dealing 5 damage, -10 SP. Thrushnose is stunned for one turn!

In the heartbeats between one move and the next, Thrushnose managed to get a decent look at her opponent. She had the upper paw in weight and muscle—but he was faster. He darted around her; her answering swipe hit open air. Teeth sank into the end of her tail. As she tried to pull away, he tugged back. Lightning lanced up her spine into her skull, and she staggered almost into the ground, shaking her head furiously.

Thrushnose is no longer stunned.

A smirk crossed Batglow's maw as soon as he noticed the warrior was stunned thanks to his efforts. The black tom forced his weight back on his hind paws as he used his front claws to batter the Thunderclan warrior with blows. Hopefully he could chase this intruder away soon. He didn't need to crawl back to camp having lost to someone on their territory.

The ShadowClanner’s paws came down onto her head, forcing her to duck to protect her face from the worst of the onslaught. With each blow, Thrushnose stumbled a step away. The Thunderpath roared too close for comfort behind her, radiating heat in the wake of another passing monster. Whatever happened, she couldn’t let herself be pushed back much further—not until the battle was over. She gave a final full-body shake, balance recovered at last, and launched herself at the other warrior with a snarl and outstretched claws, aiming to send both of them tumbling a safe distance from the path.

Thrushnose used Jumping Strike, dealing 12 damage and using 20 stamina.

As the two tumbled away from the path, Batglow couldn't help but growl out. His teeth and long fang glinting in the light as they were bared. As they rolled, the tom took the chance to deal some damage. His claws slashed at Thrushnose's underbelly before he slide out from under her. He scrambled to his paws ready for her next move, yellow green eyes narrowed into a sharp glare.

They rolled away as one hissing, spitting mass of fur, ears over tail. The ShadowClanner scratched at her underbelly before springing free, facing her head-on by the time she regained her own balance. Little as Thrushnose wanted to admit it, she was getting tired…which meant he had to be, too. Even in that, they were evenly matched. As quickly as she could bear to, she sank down and sprang at him. Her claws dug into his back—not too deep, since she trusted the weight difference to do most of the work for her, but more than enough to make him aware of them.

Thrushnose used Leap-and-Hold, dealing 11 damage and using 10 stamina. Batglow is pinned for 2 turns.
