Galekit's Apprentice Ceremony

It had been...Quite a while since Flintstar had done one of these. He stood on the Jaggedrock, glancing down at the camp - his gaze focused in the direction of the nursery. Normally it would be Ebonysong who would do this but seeing how she had stepped down and he had chosen not to name a deputy in her place - not yet, at least...It meant it fell onto his shoulders once again. He had started to speak with Freckleface about the kits - he was still not good at...Understanding them, knowing who would be a good mentor. Freckleface was better suited for that, helping the leader make the suitable choices of apprentice to mentor. "ShadowClan!" He finally spoke up, calling out for his Clan. "Gather in the shadow of the Jaggedrock!"

A similar call to the one that had occurred mere days before, Galekit noted. Once again, she padded out of the nursery, now making her way towards the Jaggedrock. There was no current deputy of ShadowClan, so Flintstar had taken up the mantle.

Galekit was six moons old. She was still young, of course, but what she had seen of Flintstar had been enough for her to make up her mind that she liked him. The she-kit took a seat as instructed, gazing patiently up at her leader.

Ah, Galekit. Flintstar looked down at the small white and gray kit as she padded from the nursery. From what he had heard, she was serious...Not one for humor. A bit like him - and because of that, it had been easy enough to decide who her mentor would be with his talks with Freckleface. "I've called you all here to witness an apprentice be named. Galekit, please step forward," he meowed, beckoning the young kit forward. He waited for her to step into place before he cleared his throat and contuined. "Galekit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Galepaw. Your mentor will be Freckleface. I know Freckleface will pass down all she knows on to you." He glanced over at his mate, eyes brightening. Freckleface, for all of her boundless energy, had no trouble dealing with him and his serious personality. She knew him well enough, she would be a good counter to the young apprentice and no doubt be patient if Galepaw needed it.

Galepaw took her new name with grace and dignity unfitting for a young cat and gave Flintstar a respectful nod after the ceremony had concluded, then found Freckleface in the crowd and touched her nose to her new mentor's. "I look forward to training with you, Freckleface."
