Sunnykit’s Apprentice Ceremony

Dayspring could only pray that she would be used to addressing the Clan in such a formal matter one day. Aside from that, she couldn’t be happier that WindClan was flourishing. New apprentices were a direct sign of new growth, after all. She secured her spot on the Tallrock after taking a swift moment to collect her nerves and cast them aside. If anything, she was beginning to do an even better job at maintaining a confident appearance in front of others. Dayspring sucked in a breath before calling out to the Clan.
"May all cats old enough to run the moor gather beneath the Tallrock for a Clan meeting!”

Sunnykit bounded out of the nursery, her tail quivering with excitement. Muddypaw had his apprentice ceremony not long ago, and Sunnykit was certain, positively certain that today would be her day. She had enjoyed the extra time in the nursery with Hayglow, but it was no secret that she was excited to join her brother as an apprentice. She joined the quickly gathering crowd of cats and searched for Hayglow and Muddypaw as she settled in, paws kneading the ground.

Dayspring didn’t waste any time and immediately began once Sunnykit padded out of the nursery and joined the crowd of WindClan cats.
"Sunnykit, please step forward," The deputy began, making eye contact with the she-kit, "Sunnykit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Sunnypaw. Your mentor will be Spotlake."

Spotlake was sitting in the crowd, as she watched Sunnykit's apprentice ceremony. She quite liked watching kits become apprentices, feeling happy for them. It almost reminded her of her own kits' apprentice ceremonies. As Spotlake watched, as Sunnykit became Sunnypaw, and Dayspring announced Sunnypaw's mentor, Spotlake was caught off guard. Her mentoring Sunnypaw? It did seem understandable, with her always sticking around the nursery, and helping the younger members of Windclan, and that she hadn't had a new apprentice in a long time.... That didn't mean that it couldn't surprise her.

Getting up onto her paws, Spotlake padded towards Sunnypaw, and touched noses with her. "Ok Sunnypaw, we begin training tomorrow. Get some rest in the meantime." She said to the young apprentice.

It wasn't too long after Muddy became an apprentice when his sister followed suit. Silverkit was just as eager watching this ceremony as he had Muddypaw's. He loved his half-siblings very much and was always ready to cheer them on. It was Sunny's time to shine and Silver couldn't be prouder.

He had decided that he'd be trying his luck in guessing who'd be the mentor again. Last time, he tried to see if the deputy would drop any hints but it didn't really work out. This time, however, he'll try a new tactic. Maybe Dayspring chooses some of the more experienced warriors to mentor? It makes sense. If that's the case, maybe Foxspirit will be Sunny's mentor? How about Spotlake? Maybe Downtuft? Hmm... He wracked his brain for a little more before settling on Downtuft. He might be wrong but he'd just have to wait and see...

He was right... in a sense. He was right that he'd be wrong. Darn! He'd been close, too. It was Spotlake! He huffed in slight annoyance before brightening up when the ceremony came to a full end. Sunnykit was now Sunnypaw! As last time, the tom-kit swiftly made his way over to the newly-named apprentice to congratulate her. "Sunnypaw! You're starting your training! Congrats! I hope Quail and I will join ya both soon. I really wanna train together. It'll be really cool!" he said with cheerful yet sincere tone. He gave his half-sister a teasing nudge before turning away to see if he could spot Quailkit.

Sunnypaw purred as her new name was called, and turned to find her mentor approaching her. Touching noses with Spotlake, she had to resist bouncing in excitement. "Okay! I'll be up first thing, don't worry!" She exclaimed as Spotlake turned and stepped away. Greeting Silverkit with a hearty nudge, she smiled. "Yes, I can't wait! I'll save you guys spots in the den next to us. It'll be a lot of fun!"
