Tornkit's Apprentice Ceremony

The sun was barely half way above the trees when Dawnhawk practically flew up on top of the leader's den. "Let all cats old enough to climb a tree gather for a clan meeting!" His tail practically vibrated like a snake's. Today was going to be a very proud day for him.. and for Tornkit. He couldn't believe how much time had flown by... Six moons already! Soon he'd have to find mentors for his other kits as well. He watched as the crowd gathered, but he only cared about two clan members in particular. This was one ceremony he was anxious to start.

Tornkit was quick to scamper out of the nursery. Her fur was brushed over numerous times already by her mother, but of course due to her fast movements it was only bound to get a little messed up on her way to the meeting place. She would become an apprentice today! She would be able to help her father, and her mother, stars she was so excited for it! Blue eyes looked up at her dad, standing tall and prideful on the branch. A bright grin on her face as she looked up at him with amazement.

Dawnhawk's heart nearly jumped out of his chest with excitement once he saw Tornkit come flying out of the nursery. A quick glance around at the crowd, and spotting her mentor, Dawnhawk was eager to begin. "Tornkit, step forward. You have reached the age of six moons and it is time for you to become an apprentice. From today until the day you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Tornpaw. Copperfox will be your mentor." Dawnhawk's eyes went to Copperfox and he waited. There was ice and a warning in his gaze, but the rest of his posture and expression remained friendly and confident.

"He will make a great mentor for you, I am sure."

Copperfox was only sort of paying attention, distracted by the act that Dawnhawk had even managed to have kits with anyone. Sure... he had the looks to get what he wanted, but he always knew his brother to be short-tempered, self-entitled and- ... Was his name just called? Copperfox blinked himself back into reality. Dawnhawk was looking at him... Oh Stars... He approached Tornpaw slowly, but gave the newly named apprentice an encouraging smile. He touched noses with her, as was tradition.

"I am ready to start whenever you are. Congratulations, Tornpaw." The name sounded... odd. Yet fitting for a spawn of Dawnhawk...

Tornpaw smiled widely. A small spark of disappointment flaring in her chest for a moment because her dad wasn't her mentor but the fact Copperfox was, was a good second choice. He was family. The white and gold she-cat bounced a little for a moment in her spot as her mentor got closer but she stopped shortly after. As much as she wanted to shout out that she was ready now, she knew that wasn't a good idea. "Thank you Copperfox! I hope we can start tomorrow!" She was ready to learn, and ready to make the clan proud of her.
