Stonekit's Apprentice Ceremony

Dawnhawk woke up a bit later than he normally did. He was surprised that he actually managed to sleep better in the warrior's den so long as Honeycomb was near him, though he tried not to make it too obvious that he was happy when she arrived. The fact the he slept later made him realize how much he must've needed it. He actually felt like he had energy today. He recalled that a kit was six moons today as well. It was time to make her an apprentice. He casually walked to the leader's den, pounced on it, and called out with confidence.

"Let all of those old enough to climb a tree gather for a clan meeting!" He then went silent and waited for the crowd to arrive. The kit should be out soon. They typically knew when their ceremony was being called. After that he would only need to wait for her intended mentor to arrive as well.

Stonekit was well aware that today was the day to become an apprentice. The she-cat already had good grooming tendencies but today, she wanted to look extra presentable. After all, she would be announced in front of the clan. Stonekit’s ears perked as the meeting was called. She swiftly exited the den, and sat below Dawnhawk as she patiently awaited for others to gather.

Once the crowd, the kit he was looking for and her intended mentor had all gathered, Dawnhawk's eyes went to Stonekit. "Stonekit, step forward. You have reached the age of six moons and you are ready to become an apprentice. From today until the day you earn your warrior name, you will be called Stonepaw and your mentor will be Graybird." With that easy transition out of the way, he looked for Graybird in the crowd. Once he spotted her, he nodded for her to come forward and claim her apprentice.

Graybird quietly lifted her head and perked her ears the moment she heard Dawnhawk speak her name. She hadn’t forgotten that one of the most important duties of being a warrior was taking on apprentices and training them until it was time for them to receive their new name. She felt a surge of pride rush through her from head to paw as she approached the newly-named Stonepaw. Apprentice training was a massive responsibility considering the fact that they would be the next generation of SkyClan’s warriors, but the she-cat felt as if she was up to the task.

Per tradition, she gingerly pressed her nose against her apprentice’s as she spoke.
“Hi, Stonepaw,” She said, quietly, “I’m looking forward to training you. We’re going to start early tomorrow so get some rest tonight, okay?”
