Daykit had not left the nursery in a while. She did not enjoy the concept of being towered over, although it was something that the kit would have to get somewhat used to if she was ever going to become an apprentice. Imagine having to tilt your neck up at an odd angle just to hold a conversation. That was another thing that turned her away from stepping out of the nursery walls. Conversation. However, Daykit planned to make an exit and march straight into the heart of WindClan no matter what... after she rehearsed what she was going to say. The night before, she made sure her script was implanted in her mind by repeating it quietly several times.

"Hi, how are you? What's your name? I'm Daykit," Her small gray tail twitched back and forth as she repeated the words to herself, "you got this! It won't be that hard... and don't forget to smile."

The big day was here. Her time to shine. Her moment. Daykit was in no hurry, so she slowly made her way out of the nursery. Practically tiptoeing, the kit edged her way along the outer wall of the den. The camp was so lively and busy, it was almost a bit overwhelming. How would she get used to this when she was an apprentice? Daykit, with her eyes wide and her ears pressed flat against the top of her head, made a bold step forward, only to bump into another cat.

This wasn't what she had planned! Her mind began to race and words tumbled out of her mouth as she tried to remember the words she had rehearsed.

"Sorry! I'm so sorry," Daykit spluttered, "h-hi! How are you? I'm name, what's your Daykit? No... I meant, I'm Daykit, what's your name?"

She would definitely be yelling at herself for those mistakes later on.

Pale shadows crept across the soft dusting of gently browning foliage that encased the sandy earth of WindClan's camp, the iridescent specks of light that easily framed the honey-colored specks of pollen and dust occasionally catching in the faint warmth of the early morning sun. Angular little face peeking out from around the densely woven shelter proffered by the Nursery, the young kit was carefully observing the slow-going happenings of the relatively empty clearing, very obviously starstruck by the few older cats who milled about in the cool shade of the gathering sun. Although Yarrowkit had been somewhat self-sufficient for the past few sunrises, it was still quite uncommon for the little tom to stray outside of the shelter of the Nursery without the guidance of Olivestar or Zinnia- the world was still a tad bit too large for his comfort, a tad bit too overstimulating.

However, today was a rather unusual day in the sense that Yarrowkit had decided to venture off by his lonesome, eager to prove to himself that he was capable of taking on the wide, wide world. He had mostly drifted along the sprawling expanse of the gorse barrier, occasionally peeking into places that young eyes definitely did not belong, absently wandering about in a rough approximation of a circle. It was only as he completed his rotation of relatively pointless wandering that he experienced his first disruption in the shape of an unexpected collision with Daykit, the two little kits sent stumbling away from the sudden force of bumping into one-another.

"Hey!" The little tom squawked indignantly, raspy voice breaking under the strain of his shock and upset, "watch where you're going!" Yarrowkit's dark gaze narrowed a fraction, pale pelt puffing up as he stared at the culprit.

Daykit made a hasty attempt to hide any sort of shock in her facial expressions. Her wide eyes served as a dead giveaway, though. Instead of arguing back like any bold kit would, she only lowered her little head a bit as a sort of silent apology. Now, this was definitely not apart of her plan. What was she supposed to say when she hadn't rehearsed for any of this? The kit glanced down at her white paws and the terrain beneath them, attempting to conjure up anything to save this from becoming a bigger wreck.

Daykit cared a lot about how other cats, especially those in her own age range, thought of her. Being known as the inconvenience of the Clan would do nothing good for her, and being known for apologizing nonstop wouldn't be that flattering of a description either. She was going to grow up to be a useful warrior, not an apologist, correct?

You're not going to apologize, Daykit ran through her next steps in her mind, It's getting old.

"I really am sorry... I hope you aren't too upset," the bi-colored kit found herself apologizing anyways, "Are you okay?"

Eagletalon had overhead the argument between the two kits and came up behind Yarrowkit. "Yarrowkit!" she snapped at the youngerkit. "Make sure you behave yourself or you will see yourself to the elders den to clean out Dapleshine's nest and fetch her food!" She knew that the young kit didn't mean anything to Daykit, however it was best to teach them to respect each other before things turned ugly.

She wanted Yarrowkit to make friends, however what she had heard about him around camp was that he was a prickly sort of kit. He was kind of like herself, but less kind towards others. She knew that it was no fun to be left out of everything, but that didn't mean that he needed to be rude.

She turned towards Daykit. "And make sure where you are going Daykit. I know it was an accident this time, but next time you couldn't be so fortunate." she said gently. She wasn't very good with kits, although it seemed like sometimes it was best to step in before things got ugly.

Pale pink nose twisting sharply under the strain of a sudden crease in his features, Yarrowkit's pale features were awash under the weight of his discontentment, evidently unsympathetic towards the fumbling yet well-meaning nature of his denmate. Weight collapsing back against the unsteady balance of his haunches, the starkly colored little tom was laid out in a strange, frog-legged sitting position; made all the more comical by his unkempt, prickly pelt flared all about his willowy shape. "Why're you-!" Whatever witty, likely complaintive words were hanging off his tongue were promptly silence by the timely interruption of Eagletalon, a molly who was nothing more than a rude stranger in the book of his relatively limited knowledge pertaining to his Clanmates.

White pelt standing to full height under the amusing guise of a bristle, the prickly little tom instead rounded his fiery focus upon the latest intruder. "You can't do that!" Yarrowkit puffed out, tufted ears falling flat against the narrow curve of his skull and feathered tail whisking in a physical display of his outrage and disdain. The petty squabble that had initially transpired with Daykit was effectively quashed and carted off to the farthest corner's of his mind, the entirety of his prickly concentration focused on Eagletalon.

Brown ears pressed against her head again, Daykit shrunk back a bit as Yarrowkit began to speak again. Fortunately for her, though, the heated conversation was interrupted by Eagletalon. Daykit felt her senses begin to cloud. It was getting a bit overwhelming for her, especially since an older cat had to step in. At this point, there was no point in trying to stick to the words that she had rehearsed earlier. Something kept going wrong every heartbeat. Daykit hadn’t meant for anyone to get scolded. The heat of embarrassment flooded her face as she glanced back and forth between Yarrowkit and Eagletalon. The she-kit’s brown ears rigidly stood up straight as the warrior addressed her. What was she supposed to say now...? Daykit searched her mind for any other words to use that didn’t include ‘sorry’ or ‘apologize’.

Why was she so distressed though? The majority of Eagletalon’s anger was directed toward Yarrowkit, not Daykit. Her fluffy tail seemed to droop a bit as she locked eyes with the warrior. It wasn’t like she particularly enjoyed watching a denmate get yelled at. Maybe, if the bi-colored kit had paid a bit more attention, the current situation would be nonexistent.
“I’ll be more careful next time, Eagletalon!” Daykit squeaked.
Her yellow eyes seemed nervous as she spoke. In that moment, she made the decision to stay in her nest tomorrow to avoid any future issues.

She looked over at Yarrowkit one last time before meeting Eagletalon’s gaze again. Should she say something? Surely Yarrowkit would hate her forever if all he remembered her as was the she-cat that got him into trouble when they were kits. However, she feared that interfering with the warrior’s words would only backfire. She shuffled her paws on the ground and watched as her pads picked up grime from the camp’s floor.
“I hope you’re not too mad, Yarrowkit,” She said, lowly, even though she was aware of the tom’s irritated state, “I’ll leave you alone from now on if you want.”

Eagletalon nodded at the small cat. She didn't mean to cause any harm, however running into the wrong cat could ruin anyone's day. She made a mental note to maybe asked Olivestar if Daykit would be her apprentice. Daykit reminded Eagletalon of herself when she was younger, although a bit shyer. "Nothing was done wrong Daykit," she soothed the smaller kit. "Tempers are just running a bit high right now."

OCC: would Daykit mind becoming Eagletalon's apprentice?

OOC: Uh-oh,, looks like we're bout to start a fist fight, Jagged.Day is precious and I want her so badly I've wanted her since the moment I laid eyes on her application

Shyfawn narrowed her eyes at Eagletalon, the newest warrior. "Yarrowkit is right," she mewed, siding with the young kit. "You don't have the power to do that. He's only a kit! That's an apprentice task, you should know that. It's hardly been a half-moon since you were one!" Shyfawn was generally quite kind, but she was known to defend kits rather fiery, being a permaqueen.

"Yarrowkit has well enough respect for elders, and Dappleshine herself would be mortified at a young kit being forced to clean her bedding,"the Queen snorted, and looked at Daykit gently, "You did nothing wrong, sweetheart. The outside world can be very daunting. Eagletalon," her mew turned harsh again, "I believe you owe Yarrowkit an apology, and Yarrowkit, tell Daykit you didn't mean to snap at her. Accidents happen."

Her voice mellowed out as she addressed Yarrowkit, regarding the prickly youngster with sympathy.

The fragile muscles of the soft belly, so delicately interwoven in an intricate map of overlapping bands of untried strength, tensing in a seething mixture of agitation and imbued embarrassment. The hard jut of Yarrowkit's narrow muzzle scrunched upwards in a versatile display of his currently foul state of mind, honey dark gaze growing ever more sour under the ensuing discussion made on his behalf. Rigorously shaking the slim bones of his forepaw until there was a profuse ache resonating within the confines of his flesh, specks and flecks of soft-trodden sand and earth flying out into the stagnant air wreathing around the angry little tom. Fortunately for Daykit, the narrow track of his mind prevented him from staying focused on more than one grievance at a time.

"'s fine!" The prickly little tom squawked, outrage furthered by the fact that Yarrowkit hadn't the slightest clue about what he was actually doing- still a bit too young and unsure of his place in the world to deviate from the strict guidelines outlined by his overly cautious mothers. Raggedly feathered tail thumping softly against the churned up sand that crept out endlessly against the roughened earth of the hollow, the pale-furred tom's narrow shoulders remained tense as he all but sized up his newfound enemy Eagletalon.

"See?" Yarrowkit puffed, quick tongue a vibrant flash of pink as it was briefly stuck in the direction of Eagletalon, evidently touting his victory on behalf of Shyfawn's intervention. "I didn't do anything wrong."

Eagletalon flicked her tail and then turned her stormy golden eyes towrads Yarrowkit. "I will apoligize this time, however make sure to keep that temper in line." she warned. She looked at Shyfawn. "My appoligies for making a mess of this situation." she said curtly. She knew that Shyfawn was generally nice, however she had a soft spot for kittens. She didn't know very much about the clan, but she knew that kits would be punished by cleaning the elders den if talked back to.

Daykit felt her nose twitch anxiously as Shyfawn approached. It was never too late to walk away from the rather tense little gathering before any other cats made their way forward. She began to drag her paws without lifting them from the ground in order to make a silent escape, but the sound of earth brushing against paw pads erupted from below. Daykit immediately sat back to prevent any further noise. There would be no escaping this one.

The quiet kit sucked in a breath to let out a miserable sigh before she heard Shyfawn turn the conversation towards her. Her wide eyes quickly looked towards the queen as she scrambled back to all four white paws.
"Thank you, Shyfawn. I'll still be more careful next time, though." Daykit managed to mutter, dropping her gaze to look downward again.
Holding eye contact for a long time was difficult for her, especially with an older cat.
