It had been...Quite a while since Flintstar had done an apprentice ceremony - normally he would leave it to Ravenmist to do but she had grown busy in her work along with a slight bought of sickness. Nothing serious apparently, but it was enough that the leader had decided to take over apprentice ceremonies for a short while. He had grown more relaxed when it came to them, he knew what to say because it was already decided for him. There was no real awkwardness to have, just say his words and be done with it. Nice and simple...He liked that. "ShadowClan! Gather in the shadow of the Jaggedrock," he called out as he jumped onto the rock, taking his familiar perch as he waited for the Clan to gather.
Mistykit's ears pricked as he heard heard the call for the clan to gather, and he slipped between the gathered cats to gaze up at Flintstar.
It had to be his turn to be apprenticed, right? Except usually it was Ravenmist who did apprenticeceremonies... Was she ill? The thought briefly crossed Mistykit's mind that it might not actually be an apprentice ceremony after all. He'd been waiting for what felt like forever to be made an apprentice. It simply wouldn't be fair if it didn't happen soon.
Still, the lanky, dark-furred tom tried to keep the apprehension off of his face as he gazed up at his leader.
"I've called you all here to witness an apprentice ceremony," Flintstar explained, swishing his tail as he spoke. "I know this duty would fall upon Ravenmist but while she is recovering from her brief illness, I will take over these to...Ease her worries. And so...Mistykit, please step forward," he said, eyes falling to the young tom. He waited a couple heartbeats to let him scramble to the front of the gathered cats before he cleared his voice and continued forward. "Mistykit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Mistypaw. Your mentor will be Vinetail. I hope Vinetail will pass down all he knows on to you."
So it was an apprentice ceremony... His apprentice ceremony, after all. Mistykit- paw, he reminded himself, slipped to the front of the crowd when Flintstar called his name, barely-contained excitement coursing through him.
He was an apprentice! And his mentor was Vinetail, not someone he was really familiar with, but then Mistypaw had been fairly reserved as a kit. He turned, dark blue eyes searching for his mentor eagerly, though still with some slight apprehension. Would he and Vinetail get along? What was he like? Mistypaw was sure his own awkwardness around less familiar faces would rear it's ugly head soon enough. Hopefully his mentor would... ignore the awkwardness entirely. That would be good. The newly-named apprentice didn't need to make a fool out of himself just yet, after all.
