Blooming Lilies

Wisteriabloom was up early to train Lilypaw for the first time, just as she'd promised. Padding over to the camp entrance, she waited for her apprentice. Soon enough, Lilypaw appeared from the apprentices den. "Hi!" She said with a cheerful smile, "We're gonna hunt today. Ready?" They walked together across the territory. The warrior had decided to teach her to hunt before showing her the territory last night, but was still a little unsure if it was the right decision.

"So, with hunting fish," she said as they neared the river, "patience is very important. Put your paw in the water like this," she demonstrated, "and wait for a little. That's it!" Luckily she had already taught Shrikepaw how to catch minnows, and this wasn't much different.

The river itself was not how it usually was - the lack if rain had dried most of it up. Lilypaw still needed to learn to fish, however, and she herself was a lot more confident in her fishing abilities than her land hunting.

Lilypaw padded beside her mentor, listening to what Wisteriabloom told her.  She watched as her mentor demonstrated, then reached her paw out over the water.  She saw a flash of sliver and hooked down her paw. Her paw came up, and with a flash of dissapointment in her eyes, she realized that the fish had gotten away.

"It's ok if you miss it first time," she said to Lilypaw, "there are plenty more fish in the river!" As she was speaking, she felt another fish brush her paw, fleeing from where her apprentice had dipped her paw in. "Look, there's another fish here!" With that, she unsheathed her claws and tried to catch the fish. She flicked her paw upwards, and with it came the small fish. Catching it in her mouth and killing it with one swift bite, she turned back to Lilypaw. "If you try and have another go, I'll find a good place to burry this" She quickly dug a hole nearby, keeping a close eye on the she-cat just in case she fell in the river. It still wasn't deep, but she wasn't quite sure how well she could swim yet.
