The lilies nestle by the rocks [Closed]

The weather seemed nippy as Ivyfall waited by the bridge for Lilypaw to meet her. The distance from camp wasn't a small one, but she trusted that the apprentice knew the way after all these moons walking through the territory. Peering into the reeds, she waited until the first chirp of birds awakening pierced the silence of the pre-dawn period. She was early to get here, carrying with her a bundle of herbs but surely Lilypaw wouldn't be far behind. Most apprentices struggled to sleep the night before their moonstone trip, eager to see it all.

Lilypaw rushed out of the camp to meet Ivyfall. She was extreamly excited as she was taking the trip to the Moonstone. She spotted the deputy at the bridge. The apprentice made her way to the older she-cat. "Hello Ivyfall! I'm here!" she chirped. She then cocked her head to one side looking at the bundle. "What is that?" she asked curiously.

"Herbs from Cloudstone. I hope you haven't eaten anything, you're going to feel queasy if you ate anything." She nudged the bundle over, cutting the woven vines that held it together to show a bunch of bitter smelling leaves of various colours. It looked more unappetising than it smelt, which was impressive.

"I haven't eaten anything yet." the apprentice stated. She bent down and took a sniff. She instantly regreted it as it smelled horrid. "Alright, here goes nothing" she said with a sigh. The she-cat began to eat the bitter herbs. She decided to hold her breath while eating. Lilypaw finished eating and it wasn't the best thing she's eaten. The she-cat wrinkled her nose and looked up at Ivyfall with a sheepish smile. "I'm ready." the apprentice said with a hoarse voice.

The deputy laughed at the apprentice's grimace, it was always the same, no matter how brave they tried to be, the herbs always left them cringing. "We can drink from the river on the way to clear your mouth, but come on. We have a long trip ahead of us."

Deftly, Ivyfall crossed the river using the stone formations beside the bridge that lead them to WindClan territory. "Do you remember why we don't use the Twoleg bridge?"

The hint was in the strong scent of dog and twolegs that lingered on it. To cross it was a death trap, not all twolegs kept their dogs held tight on a vine.

"Alright!" Lilypaw exclaimed, almost fully recovered from the taste. Lilypaw listened to Ivyfall's question as they crossed the river on the stones and rocks. "W-Well twolegs sometimes cross the bridge with their dogs but not all twolegs secure their dogs so it'll be dangerous to cross it because we never know when a dog would be let loose." Lilypaw hope that was it. She did scent the twoleg scent along with a faint smell of dog.

"Good, I see that Splashwillow has taught you well." Her whiskers twitched with pleasure at the apprentice's prompt answer. It was always reassuring to hear that their apprentices were all being trained well up to standard. This was what the other clans didn't understand, warriors of honour and wit didn't sprout from thin air, they came from good breeding and training from a young age.

Through the moorlands, the deputy lead the apprentice, being careful to veer as much as they could from WindClan territory. As an aside in their small talk, the deputy gave a clear warning to Lilypaw. "Avoid confrontations with WindClan if possible, your father was crippled by one of their dishonourable warriors. You can never trust them, for they will repay your kindness with cruelty. Always remember this."

With that, she flicked with her tail for Lilypaw to get ready to cross the Thunderpath. It seemed like a yawning pit of putrid black, but it was more dangerous than ever during the night. Not all monsters shone their light, some would creep out in the darkness out of nowhere, roaring as they passed. She was careful to feel the earth for telltale trembling, explaining her actions before she nudged the apprentice to cross. "Feel for the passing of monsters, your paws will do better than your ears. Cross now while the earth is still, and if it begins to rumble, ignore it. Turning back is a death sentence, run!"

Lilypaw sent a glare to Windclan as they went further from them.  Once they made it to the Thunderpath, the she cat listened intently as the deputy explained what to do. The young she-cat gave a brief nod before beginning to run across when Ivyfall told her to. Her heart kept pounding even after she was at the other side. She inhaled softly, waiting for the deputy.

When her turn to cross came, Ivyfall was swift to do it in a few leaps. She was used to it, the way the black earth felt unnaturally hard against her pawpads and the acrid scent that burnt into her nostrils. But there was always the rush of adrenaline, and the relaxation of reaching the other side. Meeting up with Lilypaw, she gave the apprentice an comforting lick before leading her up the path to Highstones.

The path was rocky, some rocks even slipping loose with each step but it was less fearful than the Thunderpath. Finally, they reached the yawning pit of darkness that was Mothermouth. It always seemed more frightening at night, it was silly that way. "Are you ready?"

Lilypaw held her breath as they neared Mothermouth. She had heard many stories of the dark and sloping tunnel that led to the stone that shone underground. The apprentice looked over to Ivyfall and gave her a confident smile. "I'm ready!"

"Follow the sound of my footsteps and don't straggle behind. I'm here with you, there's no need to be nervous. When we reach the moonstone, close your eyes and press your nose to it." Ivyfall lead the apprentice through the sea of darkness, relying on her whiskers to keep her out of harms way as she entered deep into the belly of the cave. Slowly, in the distance a speck of light was seen, and with each step it drew nearer. It was the moonstone in all it's glory, shimmering in the darkness.

Laying down next to it, she waited for the apprentice to touch noses with it.

The apprentice held her breath when they entered the main cavern where the shimmering stone was located. Lilypaw gave a sigh when she neared it. She gave one last look at Ivyfall before approaching the stone. She layed down in front of the bright Moonstone and touched her nose to it. After a while, the she-cat started to doze off and close her eyes. A few moments passed before she awakened to find herself in some quiet plains. Her eyes widened in awe and amazement. She looked around and then began to wait  for the Starclan cat destined to talk to her.

Ivyfall waited for Lilypaw to enter the world of dreams before she laid down next to her. She didn't press her nose against the rock, uninterested in being sucked away into seeing dead cats for the nth time. It would just be her father, or some other obscure relative crying out. No, the deputy had quite enough of that lately.

A young silvery tabby she cat with folded ears made her way over to Lilypaw. Her blue eyes sparkled as she came into veiw of her sister .Torrentpaw gave a small smile and mewed "Greetings sis"She said smiling as she stepped closer.The Starclan she cat sat down quietly.

IC: Lilypaw couldn't believe her eyes. Torrent was here, in front of her. She thanked all of Starclan for letting her see her her sister again. "T-Torrentpaw! I-I've missed you so much!" she managed to choke out. "F-Fennelpaw misses you too! How have you been?" she asked with a pained but gentle smile.
