Poppybloom could still scarcely believe that she had her own apprentice, but she was honored. She couldn't help but be a little afraid to venture too far into the forest though. If Fernpaw even accidentally got near the border, she wasn't sure what StarClan would do. Or the Righteous Few. Whoever they were. The young tortoiseshell warrior shook the thoughts away, heading to the apprentice den to get Fernpaw. Once the apprentice awoke and joined her, she would lead her out of camp, swimming to the shore from their island camp. No, they weren't going to go far, but hopefully the new apprentice would be satisfied with a fishing lesson.

"So what are we gonna do today?" The young apprentice asked in an excited tone. She eagerly followed her mentor, wondering what was going to happen today.

"Today I'll show you how to fish. It's one of the most important things you'll learn, as it will allow you to help to feed the Clan and yourself." Poppybloom blinked kindly at her apprentice, taking up a spot on the bank. This was one of the things that made them RiverClan, so she was excited to pass this skill on. It was also one of the first things Ivystar had taught her. "It's important to sit so that your shadow does not fall over the water." She paused so her apprentice could find a seat as well.

She nodded, bounding after her mentor.

Once Fernpaw sat, Poppybloom swiveled her ears, a sign to watch. Her paw hovered, carefully keeping her shadow off the water, and when she saw the movement of a fish, her paw hooked into the water. The fish darted away, however, and Poppybloom let out a hiss of annoyance...Only to realize there was an echoing hiss from behind her. She spun around, her fur bristling, to see a goose. She put herself in between the angry looking bird and her apprentice, just in time to take a hard strike from the creature's black beak.

A wild goose appears! The Goose uses Beaked Thrust, dealing 20 damage and expending 40 stamina.

Fernpaw was frozen with fear, her ears flattened as she saw the huge bird come into view. Her eyes were wide as she started to back up.

She couldn't expect much else from her new apprentice. The poor thing had barely been appointed a 'paw, and now they had an angry waterfowl headed for them. The tortoiseshell warrior reared up, raking her claws through feathers until she felt the tearing of skin. Being so close, Poppybloom was unprepared for the bird's wings to burst open, thrashing through the air. She jumped backwards, wincing at the blow.

Poppybloom uses Rear-Up to Slash, dealing 9 damage and expending 15 stamina.
The Goose uses Wing Bluff, dealing 10 damage and expending 20 stamina.

She mustered up the courage to help her mentor and jumped at the goose. The goose noticed her and flapped, pushing her off.

Poppybloom felt some relief as her apprentice made her move, although she still wasn't sure if it would be enough. She could feel her wounds stinging, and her head was aching. She forced herself to move though, hoping she could at the very least give Fernpaw the chance to get away, rearing up and slashing once more at the goose. The waterfowl flapped it's wings, sending Poppybloom backwards, where she lay and found she couldn't get up.

"Fernpaw, run. You need to get back to camp and get help." She managed to speak, although her vision was fuzzy from the blows.
