Batkit’s Apprentice Ceremony

“Let all cats well enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Jaggedrock for a Clan meeting!” Ravenmist called out from the stone, nose and ears scanning the camp for Batkit. It was his turn today, and she wished that the young tom was entering a friendlier world. These young cats were their future, and she didn’t want them being led astray by these rogue StarClanners. She needed a mentor she trusted, to lead him through this.

Batkit eyed the line that had seperated the medicine den and the rest of the camp once again. How not too long ago he was afraid of crossing it but now he had grown healthier. He wasn't afraid of the open space of the camp nor did the idea of going out in the territory frighten him for some unknown reason. Today he stepped over the line with confidence joining the gathered cats, ready to become an apprentice. Ready to see the rest of the world.

Mothglow joined the gathered cats, watching Batkit lead the way out of the medicine den with pride. He'd come a long way from the tiny half-drowned kit she'd found in the deep marsh, and she was happy to see him joining his clanmates - and, admittedly, would be happy to have a little more space in the medicine den. Cats came and went often, but three full-time residents in addition to that was pushing the limits of the space. Before Ravenmist could speak again, she licked the top of his head affectionately, smoothing out his fur before settling back to watch.

Ravenmist waited for the kit in question to take his place, before speaking again. “Batkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and the time has come for you to be apprenticed. From this day forward, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Batpaw. Your mentor will be Tulipfang. She is a loyal and capable warrior, and I trust she will teach you everything she knows.” The deputy nodded in the direction of her daughter, a smile on her scarred face.
