"All cats old enough to silently stalk in the shadows, gather in the shadow of the Jaggedrock for a Clan meeting!"

A sense of pride and a genuine confidence filled Leopardsun's voice as it carried over ShadowClan's camp. The deputy waited at the base of the Jaggedrock, rather impatiently, for the rest of her clanmates to gather. Today was one of her favorite occasions- the naming of a new apprentice; another kit ready to move forward into the next stage of their life.

The dark fluffy kitten heard the call and stepped from the nursery quietly her gaze looking up at Leopardsun curiously.

"ShadowClan! I have called you here today to witness the naming of a new apprentice," Leopardsun called. Batkit was one of Swiftheart's, she recalled. Given that, it surprised her in part that the kit moved out of the nursery quietly. Part of her wondered where she might have picked up such a trait. "Batkit, please step forward."

She waited for the kit to step forward, and then dipped her head. "Batkit. You have reached the age of six moons and are ready to become an apprentice of ShadowClan. From this day until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Batpaw. Forestbreeze will be your mentor- I trust that he will pass on his resourcefulness and empathy to you."

❒ Forestbreeze was watching young Batkit's apprentice ceremony. The she-kit was unfamiliar to him but he made sure to attend the ceremonies of all to-be apprentices and warriors—whenever he was in the camp for them, of course. It was what any good clanmate would do.

❒ The moment the young cat's mentor was revealed, his eyes widened significantly before he quickly composed himself. Him? He was now a mentor? He had been waiting for this day for quite a long time and now, it has come true. He couldn't be more ecstatic. He would put him all into training his apprentice.

❒ He waited for the ceremony to officially conclude before he got up onto his paws and hurried over to the newly-named Batpaw. He bent his neck down to touch their noses, as per tradition, before speaking, "Congratulations, Batpaw!" he purred jovially. "I will do my absolute best to train you to become a great warrior of our clan. Training will start at dusk tomorrow. You'll have plenty of time to rest and get to know your denmates. For now, celebrate and have fun." He gave her a bright smile before walking back to resume his previous duties.
