Serendipity [Open]

There was a fine line, Batkit noted. A simple but fine line. Hazel eyes eyed that partially non-existent line that marked the end of the medicine den and out in the camp. The medicine den, the space he had memorized every inch of. The familiar scent welcoming him every time he woke up from his numerous naps. But out there? Out there he didn't really remember. He knew that he wasn't born in Shadowclan since it was Mothglow that took care of him, but there was no memory no recollection of anything but the medicine den and the Shadowclan camp, aside from faint memories.

He could go out there.. He knew he could. He had seen Mothglow come and go numerous times as well as her apprentice, so why couldn't he? He was strong enough to get up and move around. Maybe he couldn't run because his sickness still had a grip on him, but he could do somethings.

Carefully the young black tom stepped over that line. Eyes looking at the ground as he did it. Suddenly happiness filled his system. Completely forgetting the line he eyed so carefully earlier, he trotted out of the den, eyes closed enjoying the feeling of being out of the den before, "Oof.." Right smack into another cat.

Flintstar paced back and forth in front of his den, sparing a glance up to take account on where his Clanmates were milling about before he went back to it. The events of the Gathering left him much to think over, of what he ought to do to keep his Clan safe or if he would only be delaying the inevitable. He sighed, tail swishing as he turned and started to pad into the camp clearing proper. He knew he wanted to keep ShadowClan safe - all of them. Freckleface, his siblings... Even if they were not pure ShadowClan, they were still members of his Clan. And then there was the newly named Redwolf who had no Clan blood, or- His thought was interrupted with something thumping into his leg, halting as he realized that he had mindlessly wandered in the direction of the medicine cat's den.

Ah. He...Did suppose speaking with Mothglow would be...Important at some point, but he suppose the more pressing matter was what had just bumped into him. He looked down to see Batkit, the young black kit reeling from running into him. "Oh, hello there, Batkit," he greeted, tilting his head. "Finally exploring the camp?" He hadn't really seen the kit since Mothglow had brought him into the camp, rarely checking in to see how he was doing as he felt that if anything...Major were to happen, the medicine cat would warn him without him asking on the kit's status. But Batkit seemed to be well on his way of pulling through his sickness, a good sign when they could use all the paws they could to increase their numbers.

Emberkit had been resting in the nursery for a while. But he was sure he was strong enough to go out. What was stopping him? The tabby kitten glanced at the outside world, and back at his nest. No. I can do what I want. And what I want is to go explore.

After a few minutes, the kitten had poked his nose into just about every little place in the camp, and now he ventured to the medicine den, stopping when another kit emerged- smack dab into Flintstar. Emberkit giggled and quickly stuffed his tail into his mouth, but he gave up and openly laughed. "Sorry, it's just funny! You walked smack-dab into the leader!"

Emberkit tipped his head to the side and studied the kit. "Wait, who are you? Cause you aren't in the nursery, but you're a kit. I haven't seen you around, and I see everyone around most of the time."

Mothglow had stepped out of the medicine den to fetch some moss, and now carefully deposited it just inside the den, brushing past Flintstar with a pleasant greeting. She blinked once, then twice, before turning around. Batkit had left the den while she wasn't looking, it seemed, and collided with the leader - what a sight that must have been. She was sorry to have missed it, certainly.

"Emberkit, this is Batkit - he's under my care because he was very sick when we first found him, that's why you don't see him in the nursery with the rest of you. He hasn't left the medicine den before today." Gently nudging her own charge with her nose, she purred - it wasn't any secret that Mothglow was quick to get attached, as a general rule, and the kit had been placed in her care for an extended period of time. "It's good to see you up and about, dear. What do you think so far? This is your home, even if you haven't seen most of it."

Batkit was still trying to process what had happened. He had run into the leader... Oh no. Big hazel eyes looked up at the large fluffy leader, just staring for a moment before another kit and Mothglow spoke up breaking him out of his moment. "Sorry!" He squeaked out to the leader, his checks puffing up a bit in embarrassment. He should have watched where he was going.

He didn't protest against Mothglow's nudge and purr, accepting her moment of affection but using it to give more space between him and the leader. "I.. uh.. its a lot bigger than the medicine den.. And there is a whole territory out there too?" He couldn't imagine how big their territory was. It was a little bit frightening to think about but at the same time he couldn't wait to see it, to train as an apprentice. The black kit tilted his head, his big eyes and big ears probably making him cuter than he was trying to be.

Flintstar's ears twitched at the sound of laughter, turning to look at the other kit who had stumbled across the group. He titled his head, a flicker of confusion in his eyes as he tried to make sense of why the kitten was laughing. What exactly was so funny about the fact that Batkit had run into him? It was a thing of happened but he didn't see any humor in it...But he did suppose seeing humor in things was something that escaped him rather easily. He glanced back at Batkit as the young kit offered a sheepish apologize, just in time for Mothglow to realize that the kit had escaped her den.

He dipped his head towards the medicine cat as she poked and prodded Batkit, listening as the young kit expressed wonder at the size of the camp. "Indeed, but you won't be allowed to see the territory until you are an apprentice proper," he explained, sparing a glance down at the kit. "It is not a safe place and so we must be certain one is prepared to take on the challenges that they might face. But, the camp is yours to explore as you wish." He paused for a few heartbeats, before he glanced at the other kit. A friend around Batkit's age would perhaps do the tom well... "Emberkit, perhaps you would be willing to show Batkit around if he wishes?"

Emberkit nodded as Mothglow's explanation. He was about to answer Batkit's question, but Flintstar beat him to it. His dark head jerked up in surprise as Flintstar asked him to show Batkit around. Reconsidering, it wasn't a bad idea. Emberkit hadn't seen many kits lately. Plus, if he showed Batkit around, that could gain him a friend, which was never a bad idea. And of course, a suggestion from the leader was pretty much an order.

Emberkit nodded at Batkit. "Come on, Batkit, it'll be fun." He bounded over to the nursery without waiting for the other kit's response. "We'll start with the nursery!"
