Lightkit's Apprentice Ceremony

The scarred warrior was frustrated and even if this was his first official ceremony. If it wasn't for those Skyclan warriors... he wouldn't be here, naming the controversial kits of the former Riverclan warrior and that former Skyclan she-cat. He did not trust him... he could relate somehow to the she-cat but that did not mean that he was comfortable yet trusting in their kits. What if they betrayed the clan? More than ever, Shadowclan needed strong warrior, both in body and mind. They couldn't allow... clan-hoppers. They could not allow... warriors who let a crime go unpunished...

Lynxscar shook his head and leapt on top of the Jaggedrock. His green eyes gazed over the camp before letting out a strong, confident yowl. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather beneath the Jagged rock for a clan meeting!"

Lightkit was basically six moons old. And surely she, too, counted to sit under the Jaggedrock. She stared up at the deputy. Lynxscar. One day, she was going to grow up to be big and strong and with supercool scars! And maybe, eventually... She, too, could be the deputy, and serve her clan. And, of course, her sister.

The tom looked down at the starry-eyed she-cat and for a moment, he saw himself reflected in her. However, that moment went away quickly, remembering that the young cat still had to prove her loyalty to Shadowclan and Shadowclan only. Narrowing his eyes a bit, thinking on who could be her ideal mentor, the tom proceeded the ceremony. "Lightkit, please step forward. You have reached the age of six moons and it's time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you shall be known as Lightpaw." He scanned the camp one more time and then a familiar face came to his mind. A small smirk grew on his face and he fixed his eyes once again on the newly made apprentice. "Your mentor shall be Flintshard. Despite being a new warrior, I trained him personally and I'm sure he will pass his knowledge to you well. Make sure to learn everything from him." With a flick of his tail and as the chattering started, the tom ended the ceremony.

However, before going back to his regular duties, the brown tabby passed by Flintshard. When they touched shoulders, the deputy looked at the fluffy gray tom fro the corner of his eyes. "Be sure to teach her a few things about loyalty. We don't want her following the same steps of her father." He mewed, referring to clan-hopping.

Flintshard sat silently in the shadows, watching the ceremony take place with half-perked ears. It wasn't until his name was mentioned that he truly turned his attention what was transpiring. It wasn't out of disrespect he hadn't been paying attention, but a simple unsure of what it truly mattered to him - of course being named Lightpaw's mentor changed that he supposed. He stood up, gaze sliding over in curiosity as Lynxscar as the tom gave a soft meow as they passed, barely raising an eyebrow at it. Was that all?

He wasn't planning to shrink on any details like that - loyalty was important after all - missing the...Finer detail of what the deputy was trying to hint as he simply nodded and strode forward toward his newly named apprentice. "We'll start tomorrow," he meowed simply, bowing his head so that she could touch his nose as expected - he wasn't fond of the physical touch but if it was tradition...He supposed he could suffer through it for a matter of heartbeats.
