Ospreykit's Apprentice Ceremony

Despite the recent turning of the seasons to newleaf, the day was dull and cloudy. The sun hid behind a fluffy gray sky, and all of camp seemed somewhat overshadowed by the oppressive, heady smokiness to the air. It was only fitting, Perchfall thought to herself as she climbed the Willow Branch. Since their camp was filled with the bloody shades of the dead, why not shade over the whole forest as well? Where was StarClan, and why were they abandoned to the mercy of these murderers? And... why had Jaystar welcomed them with open paws? Jaystar. The kit whose ceremony this was happened to be fathered by the enigmatic, inscrutable, untrustworthy tom. She'd had hopes, few though they had been, that she might be able to form some kind of partnership-- if not relationship-- with the leader, when he had chosen her as deputy. Instead, her relations with the strange blot of dark fur had only soured. Every time she thought of what he had done, the clouds overhead seemed to darken, and her mood worsened. Yet, none of that was Ospreykit's fault... and so he would receive his ceremony nonetheless. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own fish gather for a Clan meeting," she called, putting on her stoic face once more.
