Taking It Slow [Closed]

There was something exciting about being a mentor as Honeytongue sat at the entrance of the camp, waiting for Brindlepaw to join her. She had spent the sunrise figuring out how she wanted to tackle hunting...And had decided on taking things slow. She recalled how timid Brindlepaw was at leaving the nursery when they had first met - and the world outside of the camp was so much larger and dangerous. So, she was going to let Brindlepaw explore the territory at her own pace - stick close to the camp for now until Brindlepaw felt up to venturing more. Of course, there was no telling if her apprenticeship had already changed her - perhaps she would be eager to explore.

Either way, Honeytongue was ready to take her first mentorship at Brindlepaw's own pace.

It was exciting to finally be an apprentice. Brindlepaw had learned as much as she could about RiverClan's camp during her six moons, slowly coming out of her shell. Every new thing made her apprehensive, but once she realized it was okay, she took things soaring from there. It was still fresh in her mind when she was a trembling kit attempting to explore the apprentice's den, literally shaking from head to toe. But once one of the apprentices had invited her in to see, from there she had no issue walking towards her now-home.

Approaching her easily-spottable mentor, Brindlepaw was a bit shaky. It would definitely be her first time out of camp. But she was ready. After all, every time she had explored something so far, it all went okay. "Hi, Honeytongue~! What will we be doing today?" The she-cat was definitely curious as to what would be planned. She saw other apprentices coming to and from camp all the time with their mentors, some even returning with delicious fresh kill.

Honeytongue perked up at the sight of her apprentice approaching, a smile spreading across her maw as she dipped her head in greeting. "I'll be showing you some of the territory today, along with teaching you some basic hunting skills," she explained as she got to her paws. "But don't worry, we won't be venturing far from the camp today, just seeing some of the closer important areas - we'll take it slow." With that, she turned and led Brindlepaw from the camp.

There was an excitement in her to get the chance to show Brindlepaw the territory - it hadn't been a chance that she had been giving as Hailsong had been far to busy to properly start her training before she had...Well, she was eager to give Brindlepaw the luxury that she had been robbed of until Ivybrook had taken over her training. "This is our territory, well protected by the other Clans by the rivers that separate us as they tend to prefer keeping their paws and pelts dry. However, that doesn't mean that it is always safe to go by yourself - which is why you shouldn't leave the camp alone until you become a warrior," she warned. "But...Don't worry, I'll be here to send anything that might show up running back to their den."
