Daisies have Thorns? (closed)

While the clan seemed to still be getting over Scorchstar's death, life moved on. Kits romped around in the nursery, begging their mothers to get some time to play in the camp clearing, hunts were on a regular evening schedule, patrols were organized when needed... if some-cat had asked if something tragic had happened of late, they would've been surprised to see the clan in such a good state.

Of course, his best friend's death had been a burden on Daisyflame's heart for some time, but such a calamity had also brought him closer to other cats, such as Ravenmist. The she-cat could be meek at times, seeing as though she lived with a constant... impairment, so to speak, but something about her drew the large warrior to her. He found himself happy and in a good state of mind when around her, and was set on asking her to be his mate, one of these days. Hopefully, she would accept.

But today, there were other matters to attend to, such as patrolling the borders. Tonight, he'd chosen to patrol with the leader herself; Thornstar. While she'd just recently kitted, she'd been quick to recover and get back to work, which he respected. The she-cat's ways could be unconventional at times, but no cat was perfect; even the leaders, though they seemed to always have a method to their madness, so to speak. He knew that he just needed to learn to understand her ways, which might take time, but he was ready. Every since the day he'd been apprenticed, he'd grown close with every leader that he'd lived through, just as his father Mudfoot had, and he wasn't going to make any exceptions. As a warrior, he had a sole duty to follow his leader through thick and thin, and protect his clan at all costs. As an older member of the clan, he needed to set such examples of how to be the best warrior a cat could be, especially for the younger generations. He would never change his ways and promised himself to stay strong, no matter what.

Padding through the territory with Thornstar at his side, though at a slight distance from him, the tom was lost in thought until he snapped back to reality and remembered there was another cat with him.

"I've noticed that your kits are doing well with their training," the handsome tom mewed with a smile as the two walked onward, the satisfying crunch of leaves under their paws. It was a simple topic to discuss, but small talk wasn't exactly a science and he knew that Queens usually enjoyed fawning over their kits' growth, so such a subject couldn't hurt. "I haven't spent much time with Flintpaw or Nightpaw, but Sparkpaw is quite the character, that's for sure," he chuckled.

Personally, Daisyflame was surprised that Thornstar even considered amusing his conversation, seeing as though she wasn't one for small talk, but in the end, he appreciated the effort. Nodding as she spoke, he knew that any cat would show pride in their kin, especially there kits, and he didn't find any offence in doing so. Besides, him and Ravenmist hadn't even had their expected kits yet, but he was already a proud father.

"I'm glad to hear that," the white and ginger warrior mewed calmly with a dip of his head as the two of them moved onward. "Ravenmist and I are currently expecting a litter of our own. It is never a bad day to bring new life to ShadowClan," he continued, looking to Thornstar and then back to the path in front of them. "StarClan cannot stop offering us their blessings," Daisyflame added confidently. Well, there was one topics out of the way. Now, onto the next.

"You seem to be adjusting to the role of leader quite well, yes?" he mewed, turning to the she-cat once more. With a smile on his maw, he flicked his tail back and forth. "I wouldn't have expected anything less."
