soaring robins, blooming daisies [closed]

Daisybloom had been checking on the herbs only to realize they were running low. She volunteered to go grab some for her and Mossbloom. It was a beautiful day, and she stopped outside the den. The camp was bustling with life. Kits playing, apprentices and warriors leaving and entering, even the frailest elders sat outside. It was very nice.

She didn’t like going alone, although she could fight, she hated it. So she walked up to a seemingly free cat, a warrior she knew slightly. Her sister, Nettlefire, had mentored her. ”Hello, Robinloft. If you wouldn’t mind...uh, would you like to go on a herb hunt with me?” she asked nervously. Her social skills, although improved with her confidence, were still shaky, especially with ones she didn’t know very well.

With a wide yawn, Robinloft exited the warrior's den. Having just woken up, her vision was quite bleary and unfocused. Taking a moment to stretch and wake up, she gazed across clamp, ready to start the day. She really didn't feel like going on a border patrol, they were actually quite boring. Maybe she could look around camp and see who needed help.

Almost instantly after she started looking for things to do, her ears pricked up at the sound of another cat approaching her. Looking over, she saw Daisybloom coming her way, her expression almost nervous. Her cheery smile widened when Daisybloom asked her to go on a herb gathering patrol with her. "Of course! I might need a little help though, i've never bothered tampering with herbs before, though i know what a select few look like." This was exactly what she needed! A chance to get out of camp, but also having a goal set in mind that wasn't boring. Maybe she'd be able to pick up some knowledge about herbs as well!

Daisybloom smiled. ”No worries. I’ll probably be able to tell what they are.” On that note, she exited camp, making sure the she-cat was behind her. They didn’t know each other’s too well, so she was thankful the warrior was willing to help out. They had an abundance of herbs now, due to the warm season, and she wanted to take advantage of it. As she arrived at a clearing full of plants, she flicked her tail in signal for Robinloft to stop. She looked around, sniffing and examining the plants to find one that could be useful.

She spotted a purple flower and scooped it up, recognizing it as heather nectar, a plant without much medicinal use, but it tasted nicer than most herbs and was used to sweeten it. If kits needed to eat something more nasty-tasting, this helped them out quite a lot. After picking a sustainable amount, she placed them in a empty spot where a pile of herbs would start to grow as the two collected.

With a quick nod to Daisybloom, the two she-cats left camp. Robinloft was actually quite thankful that Daisybloom took the lead, as she had no clue as to where to start looking for herbs. Daisybloom was the medicine cat, after all. They weren't walking for long when Daisybloom signaled for her to stop. It seemed like they had arrived at a clearing. She watched as the she-cat picked up a violet flower, that looked quite pretty in fact. The warrior could only wonder what it was used for.

Looking across the clearing, she spotted a flower that caught her eye, but looked nothing like what Daisybloom had just found. Walking over to it, she was able to come to the conclusion that she had found a dandelion. These were found everywhere, but looking back, she thought she could remember one of these being in the medicine den. Picking up a clump of the plant, she brought it over to Daisybloom. "Are these useful?"

Daisybloom watched as Robinloft picked up something. Walking closer to make sure it was safe, she didn’t see the warrior holding a poisonous berry, so that was good. As Robinloft drew closer, she saw that it was a dandelion, and she nodded. ”Oh, those are useful! Used for...” she had to pause to think about it. ”Bee stings! That’s right, we use them for bee stings.” It seemed that not only would the herb hunt be useful to stock up on herbs, it would also serve as a good refresher for the young medicine cat.

Moving away from Robinloft to find a herb of her own, Daisybloom bent her head when she spotted a yellow leaf. Now she was starting to find even more useful herbs, which were often a bit harder to find. The tansy that she found was definitely a good find. Her eyes lit up with excitement. The plant could be used for many things, from a cough to a scratch. Grabbing some, she added it to the pile and turned back to see what her companion had found.

The warrior's eyes brightened when she was told that it was useful. Who would have known that such a common plant would also be a healing herb? Tucking the Dandelion away, she turned back toward the underbrush, determined to find something else. Pushing her way into the thick leaves, she let out a yelp when she felt a sting underpaw. Looking down, she found a leaf that had little prickly pines on it. Looking around to find the source, she found a blackberry bush not far away. Making sure she didn't poke her eyes, she bit off a few of the leaves and went back to Daisybloom. "What about these ones, do they do anything?"

Daisybloom looked over when she heard the warrior yelp. Treading over, she saw that Robinloft had found blackberry leaves. ”Oh yeah! That’s actually kind of funny.” she said, her eyes glinting. ”That helps with bee stings as well. Guess everyone will be fine if they get stung.” she purred. As she looked around, she spotted some large leaves on a tree. Oak leaves! Placing her front paws on the wide trunk to hold herself up, she bit off a few of them and put them in her little pile. Today was already going so great for the both of them!

It seemed as though everything was for bees, or at least what she was picking up. It was actually a bit funny. Smiling through the bundle of leaves, she hid them away where she had left the dandelions and went back out once more to search for herbs. She would never have thought that herb gathering would be this entertaining. Even so, she would never give up the left of a warrior in any way.

Focusing back on herb hunting, she soon spotted a daisy plant nearby. Assuming it could be used, she snatched up a few flowers and carried them back over to Daisybloom, eager to learn what they were used for, if they could be used. "Hey Daisybloom, look what i found. It's you!" Her eyes had an excited gleam to them. As she set down the flowers in front of the medicine cat.

Daisybloom turned around at Robinloft’s voice. She smiled. ”Yeah! Those leaves are useful,” she smiled. Looking around in the clearing, she stepped onto a plant accidentally. Lifting up her paw, she looked down to find some berries. Sniffing them carefully, she backed away. ”Robinloft,” she warned, ”Don’t pick up these little red berries. They are poisonous.” The medicine cat didn’t want anyone getting hurt, especially by those berries.
