Waiting for another opportunity to present itself to dart in, Dappleshine's stomach twisted in mild terror as her apprentice darted forward and pulled hard on the dog's tail. It let out a yowl, but while it was focused on its tail she saw her chance and darted forward, rearing up to grab the dog's scruff before it could whirl on her apprentice. All too aware that the sharp teeth were there, mere hair lengths from her throat, she tightened her jaws on the scruff and pummeled at it with her front paws. This dog would not, could not, get to the apprentices.

Dappleshine used Teeth Grip, dealing 10 damage. -15 SP (protecting apprentice). Can only be attacked by Front Paw moves for 1 turn.

Stormpaw darted forward, her dark pelt flashing like a cloud from her namesake. Before the great beast had the time to register the unfolding scenario, the nimble apprentice had slipped beneath its belly and emerged from the other side. With barely a show of hesitation, she bit down upon the lashing tail. As risky a move as it was, it worked. Torrentstar saw their chance when the dog stumbled to a halt; there was no time to lose. While it was incapacitated from the sharp pain, the cats had the opening to attack. And attack they did. Along with the familiar sensation of adrenaline flooding his body and sharpening his senses, the RiverClan leader also felt the urgency of defending close clanmates. He lowered his bulk to the ground and darted forward. His belly fur could have brushed the bloodstained grass. He was not quite as... petite(?) as the apprentices were, but he was stronger and capable of dealing a lot more damage. His claws tore at the already reddened underside of the dog, ripping flesh alongside fur. Dappleshine was so close―so close―to those threatening teeth. He had to deal as much damage as possible, as quickly as possible, to drive the beast away.

Torrentstar used Belly Rake, dealing 20 damage and costing 10 stamina.

The dog let out another howl as the cats attacked it, relentless in their aggression. It wasn't worth it. One small cat for all this pain? No. The dog quickly shook off the cat that was on top of it. It quickly turned and fled away back towards the two-leg place. A high pitch whine leaving it in the process.

The Dog fled the battle!


Stormpaw panted harshly. She watched the dog leave the territory. She wanted to chase after it to make sure it left for good but she couldn't bring herself to do so. The fear she felt the entire time finally catching up. As soon as the adrenaline wore off the apprentice collapsed to the ground. How many times was she going to be attacked when trying to hunt? She tried to sit up but the fear and the lack of energy was too strong. She was going to need a moment, but she didn't want to appear weak in front of the others. What was she going to do?

Before the red-tailed she-cat could attack again, the two grown-up warriors managed to scare the dog enough for it to run away. Slowly but steady, her adrenaline was lowering and her breathing was going back to normal. She looked up to Torrentstar, her big yellow eyes looking for instructions from her leader and mentor. "Should we chase it or come back with what we have, Torrentstar?" Redpaw had noticed that Stormpaw wasn't really well, even if the dog did not inflict visible injuries on the young she-cat. Probably, what she needed right was to come back and get some rest but.... what did she truly know? After all, it was up the leader of the patrol if they should continue hunting or not.

Dappleshine looked to Torrentstar as the dog ran off, fleeing from the cats. Her attention then turned to the two apprentices, and she nodded to them both before moving closer to Stormpaw. "Sit, Stormpaw, and catch your breath. Deep breaths, okay? Just focus on breathing and calming yourself. Fighting a dog is not an easy feat, you both did very well."

Her own sides heaving, she flicked her tail towards Torrentstar. "I can get a patrol together to follow it's trail, and make sure it left the territory. For now we should probably get back to camp with what we have so we can get that patrol out. What do you think?" Her eyes were bright from the battle, but the worried cloud was ever present as she thought of the apprentice's well-being. Luckily they had been able to drive it away before any of them were terribly injured, a hit from a dog could easily dispatch an apprentice.
