Shadows fall, Hope is lost [SC Flood Topic]

As Thornbriar hurried to rush queen and kit alike free of the camp and to safer ground, she realized she was missing someone. Whipping her head around, her one eye scanned the area quickly for the familiar red pelt. "Redwing, hurry!" She called. However, as she yelled for the queen's attention, a deafening crash followed by a terrifying rumble swallowed her words. The dark furred queen's blood ran cold as she watched the massive wall of water make it's way towards camp at a blistering speed.

No.

There was no outrunning that.

Chilling reality set into her bones as she turned and began urging the few cats that had followed her in another direction. They were all about to be fish food... not that that was going to stop her. Once those cats had changed direction and began fleeing towards higher ground, Thornbriar changed direction and rushed towards Redwing. She might not know the she-cat well, but she'd shared a den with the Queen long enough to know that she was a decent enough cat. "Hold on tight, kits." She hissed.

But she soon realized she was too late. The monstrous wave of water was already upon them, and as she leapt for something solid to hold on to, she was slammed underneath. Murky water rushing into her ears and nose, she squeezed her eye shut and began frantically churning her paws on instinct. Somewhere in the back of her mind, the thought occurred to her that should she survive this, she should ask Swanpetal for swimming lessons later on. However, that stray thought was quickly shoved back as she realized that she had kits to save. She still felt tiny pinpricks in her shoulders, but she didn't know how long that would last and she was running out of air. Which way was up? For Starclan's sake! Her hindpaw grazed what felt like solid ground and an idea flickered to life in her mind.

Realizing that paddling like a kit wasn't doing anything to help her, she let herself be swept by the current for a moment until she was slammed to the ground. She scrambled to get her paws underneath her, digging her claws into the loose muddy soil... or what was left of it, before pushing off from the ground with all the force she could muster. The she-cat shot upwards, head finally breaking the surface. She gulped in air, before she realized something that stopped her heart. "Sootkit, where are you?!" She yowled, being shoved underneath the water again. She floundered for a moment before resurfacing. "Kit!"

Twisting her head to look behind her, she realized something else.

Tanglekit and Sablekit were now missing as well.

As soon as she noticed her missing kits she was slammed into something very large and very hard by the force of the current, her consciousness was ripped from her.

"I-I don't know Mothpaw!" Was all the little she-cat could get out before she heard a very loud, very scary noise, followed by her father's panicked shout to flee to Highstones.

Silentpaw rushed out of the Apprentices den into absolute chaos.

Cats were frantically rushing about the camp, rounding up herbs, kits, elders, and the injured as fast as they could. And then she looked behind her, tilting her head up to the looming wall of water. Normally... she'd be afraid. But right now she just felt... calm. Cold, even. She watched it rush closer and closer, before looking up to the sky and closing her eyes. She couldn't see the stars right now, just an inky blanket of clouds. Raindrops stabbed at her pelt like tiny claws made of the ice itself.

Stars... what comes next?
