Lost Hope (C)

As Basilbloom prepped for Spottedpaw to arrive and try to dream with StarClan, she decided to try something new.  Grabbing what remained of the Coneflower plant she had retrieved the medicine cat placed it on the ground alongside a couple of poppy seeds, eyes lifting to greet Spottedpaw as the young she-cat arrived.  "Okay Spottedpaw, it's time to try and connect with StarClan.  Eat these poppy seeds, it'll put you to sleep like the Moonstone would and it might help us reach our ancestors.  Also, I had an idea.  This Coneflower came from a prophecy of StarClan, perhaps if we have it with us...it might help."  She knew it was a long shot, but at this point, she would try anything.  Placing the Coneflower on the ground between them, she touched her paw to it's stem and closed her eyes.  Please...please let Spottedpaw reach you.

Spottedpaw nodded simply, then lapped up the poppy seeds, and laid down next to Basilbloom. She touched the coneflower with her paw as she drifted off to sleep.

As Basilbloom gave in to sleep, she hoped and hoped that she would see something other than the black void, at least one little glimmer of light. It was not to be though, and the intimidating emptiness quickly rejected her as she woke up beside Spottedpaw. Her amber eyes dull and sad, Basilbloom rested her head on the ground near the coneflower, breathing in its sweet scent. Maybe Spottedpaw would have better luck...

Spottedpaw woke up in sorrow after seeing nothing but darkness. She was unsuccessful at reaching Starclan. Spottedpaw glanced up at Basilbloom as she saw she was awake too. [b] "I had no luck, did you?"[b] She spoke to the medicine cat.
