Shadows fall, Hope is lost [SC Flood Topic]

Mothpaw saw the wave approach, and heard her father's shouts. Highstones, he said. She'd never been there, only heard stories of it: she knew that it was where apprentices went at the end of their training to speak to their warrior ancestors, but not much else. Lost in thought, she wasn't moving fast enough to escape the current, and found herself swept away.

"No!" Daisyflame screeched, watching as Scorchstar was stolen from his side by the rushing water. Clinging onto the hedge for dear life, tears began to well up in his amber eyes. How and why would StarClan take away his best friend like that? ShadowClan needed a leader, especially in dire times like this and seeing as though Scorchstar was still recovering from his last life lost, who knew if the dark tom had survived the currents or not.

Looking around at his clanmates who also held onto the camps once sturdy hedges, Daisyflame got up from where he'd been crouching, not wanting to be swept away as well. He would mourn his leaders death later, but for now, he had to make sure the rest of the clan was safe, for Scorchstar's sake. "You heard Scorchstar, let's go to Highstones!" he yowled and began precariously making his way across the prickly surface that felt as if it was going to snap under his weight any moment.

Surprised by the sudden waves that crashed through the camp, Slatestrike jumped towards the wall of hedges, but he was just too heavy. The branches and brambles easily snapped under his weight and sent the warrior flailing into the water bellow. 'No! I can't die like this!' he thought to himself as he began to panic, his head bouncing up and down in the water as he was barely able to keep himself afloat. He so many ideas, so many plans that would make his named feared throughout the forest... and he was going to die from some stupid water? What a pathetic death!

Floundering about and unable to tell where he was going, Slatestrike let out a screech as a shocking wave of pain was sent up his back. Having not been able to even change directions when swimming, the abnormally large warrior had been on a course towards a fallen tree and impacted it as hard as a monster hitting a cat on the Thunderpath. Blood streamed out from behind him and in the direction of the rapids and within a few short moments of gasping for air, Slatestrike was dead. This was no way to die, especially for the son of Lichenmask, but what was done was done and unlike leaders and their perfect StarClan friends, there was no such thing as bringing regular warriors back to life.

It lapped at his coat, disturbing the calico's slumber. This was perhaps the only thing that could have interrupted such pleasant dreams. Whether it debris or otherwise, anything that misplaced the long fur of his pelt had always aggravated the tom. When his gaze focused on the source of his annoyance, Burntstag hauled himself quickly onto his paws and padded around the other dazed warriors to the open area of camp. Scorchstar was already ordering the camp in how to deal with this issue. As his own name was called, he simply nodded and sprung towards the medicine cat's den to aid in gathering the herbs. Their survival was important, herbs did not grow through the leaf-bare season.

While he headed for the den with the others, the tom briefly glanced around for Cederpaw. Not long before she had been named his apprentice, and despite their lack of training, he'd been tasked to care for the young cat. However, to his disappointment, he was unable to pick out her coat in the few moments it took to travel towards Morningpaw's den. He ducked inside the sizable enclosure. There, the water had risen enough to separate the usually neat piles. Burntstag quickly dipped his head to snatch up as many as he could before turning back to the center of camp. His whiskers and short maw fur dripped from the moisture that had seemed to overtake every ounce of his being. Mud was one thing but the idea of a sopping wet coat was simply unappealing. Riverclan cats were absurd.

That was the last thought he had before the sickening crack rung out through the air. For a split second, he cocked his head in confusion and glanced between the assembled cats. That was not a normal noise. The next moment, his paws were swept out from under him. Burtnstag's eyes widened with shock and his teeth only ground further into the herbs. As the tangy tasted overwhelmed his sense, the warrior fought to keep himself upright as he battled the waves and various floating debris. Consciousness was still there, but strength waned with each churning paw.

Littlepaw had returned to camp, vacating her mission to run to Windclan due to her worries that she was actually needed. Cats rushed past her as she dove back in, lost and confused and frantic, trying her best to push cats to their paws when they stumbled. Littlepaw did her best to try to get to Asterspark and Redwing, she had to help her mentor and his mate protect the kits! But then, a loud thunderous crack made the ground hum and groan like a monster on the path. Her heart skipped a beat and within moments a roaring wall of water struck down on Shadowclans camp, slamming into her and her clan-mates alike. Littlepaw's heart shuddered with terror as she could hear the cries of her clan-mates, her brothers, her mentor! No! What about Redwing?

Try as she might, Littlepaw was washed away alongside her clan-mates, trying her best not to drown. To keep her head above the water and live. She and her brothers were Lichenmasks legacy! She can't let it end like this.

Morningpaw had managed to salvage a decent amount of her herbs with the help of Wildstrike and Burntstag. She had them under the protection of a couple of warriors. As she checked her waiting clan-mates for any injuries, Morningpaw heard terrified voices yowling all around her. The she-cat looked up and gasped as she saw a large wave of water coming straight towards them. "Brace yourselves!" she cried as she looked around frantically around her for anything to cling to. The she-cat decided to stay near the herbs. So, she ran over to the warriors who had been holding onto the plants and grabbed a hold of a nearby tree trunk. She attempted to help others to the same.

As the wave passed, she witnessed many get taken away by the current. Her heart lurched as she saw Scorchstar meet the same fate. She clung to the bark as she waited for it to stop. She prayed to Starclan, if they even listened now, to help them and keep everyone safe, wherever they were.

Wildstrike froze when he heared a loud crash and suddendly a large wave swept over the territory, before he could react the strong wave knocked him of his feet and he were dragged underwater. After a few seconds of struggling he managed to get his head over water and coughed out some water before he called out to Daisyflame, he knew that he and Scorchstar were close and that he could be trusted to lead the clan "Daisyflame! Get them out of here--" he were dragged under water once again but faught is way up to the surface once again "You got a clan to lead now!" he yelled out before he where to far away to be heared. He faught to keep his head up, trying to keep himself from drowning.

When her mate appeared by her side and flung him up onto his shoulders she let out a weak meow "I love y--". She stopped when she hear a deafening crash and suddendly both she and Scorchstar were getting swept away. Without even realizing it her claws were digging into the side of her mates, she looked back at the camp that were quickly fading in the distance. Oh Starclan what have we done to deserve this?..

"Father!" Crowfur had just witnessed his father's demise, his body now being taken away by the water. He looked on for a few more moments before turning to look forward once more. He tightened his hold of Curlyfeather and proceeded on.

The two soon made it to a spot with a bit less water. He had her rest there while he waited for further instructions. While he did, he began hearing cries. "What the?" The warrior turned to look and was met with the sight of a big wave getting to them. He quickly made the she-cat beside him look to where it was coming and signaled to her that she had to hold onto something.

"Arg!" cried the tom as the water smashed into his side. He was then swept away, crying out to Curlyfeather to hold on.

Mosskit had been picked up by a warrior and then transferred to another. However he slipped and with a screeched he fell hard onto the muddy floor. He gasped for air and mud was shoved down his throat and the a thunder crack scared him out of his fur. His body shook. Its the end He silently prayed someone would pick him up since his senses were filled with mud. Then the water hit him, knocking his breath away immediately and washing him away. He flipped and twisted and then ran hard into something. He didn’t know what it was but he dug his kitten claws into it and held on for dear life.
