Arakit's Apprentice Ceremony

Marshstorm watched as a little calico kit played in the snow. She was becoming a bit of a pawful, but Marshstorm approved of it. His tail twitched thoughtfully as he wondered what path the little she-cat would take. Would she be a great hunter? A great fighter? One thing was certain, he had to give her a good name. She hadn't had one when Beartooth had brought her to the fold. At least, not one that made sense... what was an Ara anyways? He huffed, then chuckled to himself.

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath High-rock for a clan meeting!" He yowled, a small smile on his muzzle as he thought it over. "Arakit, step forward." He fumbled a little over the name, unashamed of it. Most the clan probably did.

Ara, or as the Clan cats had called her, Arakit, stepped forward when she heard herself called. She looked up, curiously, to the much larger cat on the rock, wondering what he could need her for.

"Arakit, you have reached the age of six moons. It is now time for you to become an apprentice. From this day on, until you recieve your warrior name, you will be known as Dapplepaw." Marshstorm announced without much preamble. The new name rolled off his tongue far easier than her foreign name. Though he hoped that she could understand why it had to change. He glanced towards a brown and white tom among the crowd of gathered cats. Gesturing for him to step forward. "Your mentor will be Weedblaze. A strong warrior who you could learn plenty from." He smiled at Dapplepaw before leaping down from High-rock to end the ceremony.
