Rainkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Cold snow clung to Marshstorm's back as the large dark tabby leapt to the top of High-rock. His mind a blur of thoughts. So many kits, and a good pawful were due to be apprenticed. This was good, there were some new warriors that were overdue for their first apprentices. Yet, it was such a bad time a year for such a thing. The time when prey hid very well and complicated hunting lessons. Still, he pushed his negative thoughts aside. This was a good thing. The kits had grown strong since Beartooth had herded them into camp. Since Dustcloud had taken them in and by proxy, himself as well. Though he did wonder what they'd have been like had Beartooth raised them.

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath High-rock for a clan meeting!" He yowled, a smile on his jaws as he caught sight of the little tortoiseshell. He could see the moment her blue eyes turned in intrigue as he sat with his tail curled around his paws. He gave her an encouraging nod, sealing any doubt with his next words. "Rainkit, step forward."

Quietly, the little calico obeyed, looking up at the dark pelted tom with a wary gaze. She knew what was coming next but she wasn't sure yet if she was ready for it. Thunderclan had been kind to them so far but...

Her gaze flicked to her siblings.

What if this wasn't right?

"Rainkit, you have reached the age of six moons. It is now time for you to become an apprentice. From this day on, until you recieve your warrior name, you will be known as Rainpaw." Marshstorm began, his voice calm and patient as he smiled down at the worried looking apprentice. "Your mentor will be Flamerose." He turned to a red tabby she-cat. "May you teach her your loyalty with kindness." He added, looking down at Rainpaw once more.

"You'll be fine." He murmured, trying to soothe her doubts before he leapt off Highrock to conclude the ceremony.

IC: Flamerose shot up from her sitting spot and looked over at Rainpaw. She was a mentor already?! Her bright orange eyes gleamed with excitement and a hint of nervousness. She hastily made her way over to the young she-cat and bent down to press her nose against the apprentice's. "I-I look forward to training you Rainpaw." Flamerose cursed herself for the slight stutter but she quickly shot the apprentice a smile before walking away, most likely going to hang out with Harefoot.
