Falconkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Marshstorm watched the camp in the calm quiet of the evening. Tonight, one kit was going to be lucky enough to join most of their fellow kits into apprentice hood. He looked over at the various kits who had grown in his time at the medicine den. Half of Blizzardshine's were apprentices already. It was almost hard to believe as he mulled over the things he missed. Fortunately, he was more than aware and well-enough to keep a steady mind as he thought over mentors for the active kit currently romping around camp. Falconkit, he mused, seemed to have more energy than most.

He'd have to make sure the cat who trained him was patient enough to handle it.
"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath High-rock for a clan meeting!" He called. An idea in his mind as he smiled and called the clan to a meeting. The perfect mentor, one that could hopefully satisfy the kit's boundless energy.

Falconkit darted toward the meeting spot, coming to a sudden halt and sitting down on a small patch of grass.
She LOVED Clan meetings, they were always so interesting! She liked the warrior ceremonies the best, although apprentice ceremonies were fun, too. Falconkit wondered what it would be this time.

The large tom chuckled at Falconkit's enthusiasm as she darted towards High-rock. Her mentor would need practice dealing with young kits, he mused to himself as waited for other cats to gather beneath the high-rock. He nodded politely at his clanmates before he called out to the kit.

"Falconkit, step forward." He summoned. This would be the last time she was addressed as a kit... her first step into apprentice hood. He smiled as he waited to see if the reality of the situation would sink in and make her pause, or if she would simply charge to the front as she had been doing.

Falconkit seemed to pause as her name was called, her expression blank for just a moment.

Then a huge smile spread across her face as she ran up to the High Rock, incredibly excited.

"Falconkit, " Marshstorm began with a blink of amusement at the kit's momentary bewilderment. He pressed on with the announcement. "you have reached the age of six moons. It is now time for you to become an apprentice. From this day on, until you recieve your warrior name, you will be known as Falconpaw." His gaze fell onto the form of a kind white and black she-cat. If any cat could handle the eager apprentice, it was her. "Blizzardshine will be your mentor." He explained with a flick of his tail that was heavy despite the light action. "She is a wise she-cat, who has much kindness and wisdom to offer you. I hope you will take the time to learn well from her lessons."

He leapt down from high-rock among the cheers of the new apprentice's name. He looked forward to watching her grow up into a fine warrior someday.

Blizzardshine got up from between the crowd, walking towards the newly named apprentice with elegant steps and a smile on her muzzle. For many moons, the close bonds he shared with her apprentices were one of her greatest treasures, the closest she ever felt to having kits of her own. Now that she had the blessing of becoming a mother she knew the great difference between both bonds, but it didn’t made this one any less precious.

The former leader smiled at Falconpaw and lowered her head to touch noses with her “I promise to train you to the best of my abilities”.

Falconpaw grinned even wider than before, practically smiling ear to ear with her jaw half dropped. "I get to be trained by the former LEADER??"

She ran up to Blizzardshine, tripping over her own paws in excitement, before sliding to a halt to touch noses with her mentor. In her overexcitement, however, she overshot and crashed into Blizzard 's shoulder.
