Shellkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Swiftstep hopped up onto the Tallrock with a proud twinkle in his amber gaze. A kit was going to be apprenticed today! They will begin their training to soon become a warrior Windclan would be very proud of. The brown tom's face morphed to a serious one before he continued. However, he couldn't completely vanish his excitement. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather underneath the Tallrock for a Clan meeting!" Swiftstep called with an authoritative tone.

Shellkit's head and slightly limp ears raised from her pale brown paws as she heard a tom's voice ring throughout camp. The leader and also her mother wasn't a tom, so it must have been the deputy, Swiftstep. She had never gotten the chance to formally meet him but she had vaguely heard about him and admired him. Then, Shellkit blinked and her eyes widened. The dull-colored cat had been told that she, along with her littermates, would be receiving their apprentice ceremonies very soon. This must've been it- one of her littermates, or her, was getting apprenticed. She ushered herself out of the nursery and sat down, looking expectantly at Swiftstep and taking side glances at her siblings from afar.

The brown tom looked down at Shellkit with a pleased gaze before continuing, "We all gather here today to make one of our kits an apprentice. Shellkit, please step forward." Once the she-kit did, the deputy nodded approvingly with a tiny smile and then began to speak again, "Shellkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Shellpaw. Since I am ready for a new apprentice, I will be your mentor. I will teach you all that I know."

Swiftstep hopped down from the Tallrock and touched his nose to Shellpaw's as a definitive end to the ceremony. "Your training will start tomorrow at dawn. Be sure to rest darlin'." The deputy smiled gently before walking off to finish his camp chores.

Shellkit's eyes widened with slight surprise, but she shook it away and stepped forward. Her surprise doubled when the deputy said that he would be his new mentor- what an honor. She gratefully dipped her head before touching noses with the brown tom, a small smile gracing the corners of her mouth. 

Shellpaw dipped her head once more at his words, making her way to the apprentices' den.
