through the darkness [closed]

Tansyheart stretched, slowly making her way towards the entrance of the warriors' den. Even moons after losing her mate and kits, it was still difficult for the she-cat to have the motivation to do anything but sleep. She regretted every lost moment that she passed without Newtface, but what could she do now but move on? She had told herself this nearly every day since he had been found dead on the Thunderpath, to no avail. Her only condolence was that one day, she would meet him again in StarClan.

She shook her head, a little more violently that she intended to, as if to clear these unfortunate thoughts away. Through the darkness, both figurative and literal, life must continue as usual. Seating herself near the camp exit, she scanned the clearing for the two cats she was expecting on patrol. Although the ominous reddish light made it difficult to recognize each of her Clanmates, they didn't seem to have emerged from their respective dens yet. The she-cat bad touch her white-tipped tail over her paws, sighing reservedly as she waited for Sparkpaw and Minnowcall.

Sparkpaw trotted over to Tansyheart. She'd been up late last night refilling the prey pile, so there was enough for some breakfast. But after breakfast, there wouldn't be enough. So she was on the patrol. A yawn broke the silence, coming from herself. "Good morning."

Minnowcall yawned as she exit the warriors den and padded towards the camp exit where she saw Tansyheart and Sparkpaw waiting for her. She smiled towards them "Hello you two" she meowed with her, as usual sweet voice. She really needed to get out of camp and think of something else with all that had been happening the last moons. She shook her head and looked at Tansyheart and Sparkpaw again "Well I'm ready too go if you are".

She looked up. Both cats having joined her, she pushed herself to her paws. "Alright, let's go," she said over her shoulder. She led Minnowcall and Sparkpaw out of camp, and then trotted steadily through the marshy territory until she reached a dry clearing. "Here looks fine," she mewed, nodding at the two she-cats.

Tansyheart distanced herself from her Clanmates, scanning the area to their left. She caught the scent of a mouse, and after only a moment she spotted it, scuffling softly at the base of a tree trunk. Breathing in slowly, she fell almost automatically into a hunting crouch, staying downwind of her prey as she stalked it carefully. She pounced at exactly the right time. The warrior emerged from between several trees, the mouse dangling from her jaws. She deposited it safely beneath a tree root and turned back in search of her next quarry.

Sparkpaw nodded. This was a good hunting spot. She turned to search in the other direction, quickly finding a frog to pounce on. Easily and without any messing up that the frog noticed, she caught it.

Minnowcall nodded and stalked of in the hopes of finding a toad and she sure did, after just a few moments she saw one and slowly creept towards it, when she where close enough she leapt at it and sunk her teeth into it's neck and snapping it. She buried the toad by a large tree to collect it later.

Tansyheart, following the scent of a rabbit, padded softly around a bush, to find her quarry sitting tensely, ears pricked for any sound. She stalked it carefully, pouncing after a few moments of contemplation. The rabbit was ready for her, however, and streaked out of sight as her paws left the ground. She shook her head, trying not to let herself get too frustrated over a single missed catch, and trotted back in the direction of her other prey to meet up with the others.
