Gust of Darkness (CLOSED)

The sun began to fall behind the trees, making way for dusk, the bright warriors of StarClan sparkling one by one in Silverpelt. This would probably be the last chance Scorchfang would have at hunting for the day. He had been leading patrol after patrol of cats, hunting in different parts of the territory, trying to restock the fresh-kill pile so that everyone in the Clan could eat at the same time for once. He was growing exhausted from picking off the scraps that was left behind by those who needed food more than he did, but he never complained; he was willing to continue giving his share to queens, kits, and the injured or sick.

His stomach growled loudly as he padded along the Thunderpath, trying to sniff out any prey over the reek of the black stone where monsters roared. He stiffened as one suddenly raced past, its glowing eyes glaring murderously ahead as it passed, foul-smelling slush splashing against his dark tabby pelt. Speak of the Dark Forest cat... He shook himself off with a hiss of frustration and resumed his search.

Even though RiverClan had stolen most of her Clan's herbs and fresh-kill, Gustpuddle began each day with a smile on her face. She knew that nothing could be done about the lack of prey and herbs except for hunting, and even though her body ached and her wounds burned when she moved, the tiny she-cat was more than happy to go out and about trying to support her Clan with the food they needed oh so badly. She had managed to sniff out a very scrawny rabbit, but at that point, anything would help. No cat knew, that rabbit could save the life of a young kit or elder, so she gave chase when she didn't catch it the first time she pounced.

She chased it across the moor, and hardly noticed as her feet flew across the Thunderpath, her brain not registering the rancid smell around her until it was too late. She jumped, landing square on the rabbit and ending its life with a swift blow to the neck. She stood back up, glad that she had caught the rabbit. She suddenly felt dizzy when she realized what she had done. She was on ShadowClan's side of the Thudnerpath! She was going to get in so much trouble! Leaving the rabbit behind for some other ShadowClanner to find, she darted across the Thunderpath, terrified that some other cat might think she was trespassing on purpose.

Scorchfang had spotted the small WindClan warrior chasing after the rabbit, watching as she got dangerously close to the Thunderpath, a growl rising in his throat. Even when she crossed over the Thunderpath into ShadowClan territory, he would have approached her and let her go with a warning and perhaps a scratch or two. That was until he saw her make the killing blow on the prey that had then been labeled as ShadowClan's. He truly wanted to let her escape with no wounds, but that wouldn't protect his Clan. Not to mention it was demanded of him by the warrior code that he challenge all trespassers. Besides, what if one of his Clanmates got closer to starvation without that rabbit? What if Minnowcall or Lionpaw or Goldenpaw...

These thoughts completely overrode his concern for the she-cat of a struggling Clan with protective fury of his family. With a fierce yowl, he raced out into the open and across the Thunderpath, catching up to the fleeing she-cat quickly, and finally he gnashed his teeth tightly into her tail, yanking hard to unbalance her. "And just where do you think you're going, prey thief?"

Scorchfang used Tail Yank on Gustpuddle, dealing 9 damage and costing 10 stamina.

"I-I didn't mean it!" She yowled, fighting to get loose from the much larger ShadowClan deputy. This could've been expected, but the searing pain in her tail tore away thoughts that had resided in her head. When the younger cat finally let her go, she darted forward, unable to move anymore or think as blood dripped from her tail onto the rollings hills of the moor."I'm going back to help my starving Clan! I left the prey there, you should be thanking me for giving you more prey!" Gustpuddle, being much older than the cat before her, knew that she really should have been forgiven, even though she had trespassed. Any good cat would've known to leave her be and take the rabbit back to their Clan instead of the blood of another Clan cat.

Gustpuddle is no longer Stunned.

"I'm sorry, but it is my duty to challenge trespassers and teach them not to do it again, even if blood must be spilled," Scorchfang growled. He didn't sound sympathetic at all, but the look in his bright orange eyes said otherwise. He didn't truly want to fight her, but he knew he had to protect his Clan at all costs. With a snarl, he rose up on his hind legs and slashed his claws across the small she-cat's cheek, his claws glistening in what little sunlight was left with her blood.

ic: "If it wasn't clear to you, enough blood has been spilled on these moors already!" Gustpuddle's old wounds that hadn't been healed due to WindClan's lack of herbs still stung, nearly as worse as the new ones her opponent was inflicting. If it was a fight he wanted, it was a fight he'd get. Growling at the dark-colored tom, she raced forward. She may have been small, but she was definitely strong, and fast as the wind. She latched onto his scruff, shaking wildly as hard as she could. It was quite obvious that if he had used the same move on her, it would have done tremendous amounts more damage, but she was content with not thinking about what could have been.

Gustpuddle used Scruff Shake, dealing 8 damage and using 25 Stamina.

Scorchfang yelped at the sudden shaking, his head spiraling into a harsh dizzy spell, his claws digging into the foul-smelling Thunderpath underpaw.

With the much younger tom now stunned, Gustpuddle had much more time to get in as many hits as she could. She was already exhausted from the war and lack of prey, and now she had the fight to deal with. She stood on her end of the Thunderpath and took a moment to breathe. She closed her eyes for a moment before she darted forward, using her speed to her advantage. She stopped short of the dazed tom and reared up onto her back legs, unsheathing her claws as she came down and pummeled his face, leaving claw marks on his left cheek.

Gustpuddle used Rear-Up to Slash, dealing 17 damage and using 15 Stamina.

(OOC: If you don't mind me asking, I've always been super confused about Pin and Stun moves. Some people tell me that if you use moves like Scruff Shake, Leap-and-Hold, or Teeth Grip, you can use other moves on the next turn like what you just did, but others say you have to keep using the Pin/Stun moves in succession until your opponent is no longer stunned, like you use Leap-and-Hold one turn and you have to keep using Leap-and-Hold until the cat struggles free and is no longer pinned. Which is true?)

Scorchfang spat in pain at the harsh blow to his head, feeling the warm release of blood trickling down the fresh wounds in his cheek.

ooc: Ah, I gotchu friendo. It's actually a mix of both, as a Pin move and a Stun move aren't the same thing and have different functions. With our Stun moves, (Tail Yank and Scruff Shake) the cat being stunned (Scorch) is no longer able to focus/concentrate, so they cannot attack until they have regained control. This gives the opponent (Gustpuddle) a chance to attack more, as they do not have t hold to move for it to have the Stun effect. Because Scruff Shake is a Stun move, Gust was able to attack Scorch and get more damage in. With Pin moves, it's a little different. When a cat uses a Pin move, it's exactly as it sounds, your cat is pinning his/her/their opponent down. Because they have them Pinned, if they move away from them, the attack ends, and your cat can move again. When a Pin move is in effect, the opponent has to use that same move until the amount of turns is up. We determine turns by the number you roll on the dice. Since I rolled a four, Scorch was stunned for two turns. You've posted two times since then, so now the Stun is used up and he is free to attack again :D

ic: The petite she-cat tried her best to ignore the yowls of pain coming from the tom. If she didn't fight as hard as she could, the large Deputy would tear her to shreds, no doubt about that. She ran at full speed towards him, knocking into him and bowling him onto the ground. She quickly scrambled to her feet, trying her best to catch a breath.

Scorchfang grunted as he was thrown down against the Thunderpath, and he scrambled back up as quickly as he could. He growled lowly and, as he began to slowly circle, the nearly new moon began to climb the sky. With the sun now gone, and with the moon being nothing more than a silver slit in the sky, nearly everything was pitch black. Combined with his nearly black pelt, Scorchfang blended in perfectly with the darkness, his narrowed bright amber eyes being the only way Gustpuddle could detect where he was. Suddenly, he rushed at her with a yowl and slashed his claws into her shoulder, his size and momentum sending her crashing into the ground.

Scorchfang used Night Ambush on Gustpuddle, dealing 17 damage and costing 15 stamina.

ic: Gustpuddle yowled in pain as she was thrown back against the Thudnerpath, the rancid, hard surface beneath her sending pain throughout her entire body. It took her a moment to get up, but when she did, her amber eyes burned with ferocity and an urge to end the fight as quickly as possible, whether it meant her loss or that of the Deputy. Her grey and white fur stood on end and her tailed fluffed up with a sudden fear of yet another loss. She wouldn't let that happen. The move she'd used before seemed to have done a number on the younger tom, so with nothing but winning on her mind, she rushed towards him, clawing his face yet again and worsening the scratches she'd already left. Without a second thought, she turned around and raked his side with unsheathed claws, tearing through fur, skin, and muscle alike. It pained her to do it, and she winced as she ran back onto WindClan territory, daring Scorchfang to trespass onto the territory she called home.

Gustpuddle used Rear-up to Slash and Swift Strike, dealing a collective total of 24 damage and using 25 Stamina.

Scorchfang snarled with fury at the back-to-back strikes, racing after Gustpuddle, trying to catch her before she crossed back into WindClan territory. Once she did, however, he skidded to a halt at the very edge of the Thunderpath, panting heavily from pain and exhaustion. He glared at the small she-cat, his tail twitching in frustration. The battle had really worked him up, but he was going to be the better cat and stay on his side of the border. It seemed the battle would be over before any true winner would be decided.

"I will spare you just this once," Scorchfang growled lowly, "but I had better not see you or any of your other Clanmates on ShadowClan's territory again. If we do, no border will keep us from thoroughly teaching you a lesson. You have been warned." Turning his back on Gustpuddle, glaring at her over his shoulder for a few more moments, he raced back over his side of the border and picked up the rabbit the she-cat had caught before the battle took place.
