Hunting patrol (Closed)

As another 'timeless' day began to pass. Marshstorm padded over to the apprentices den. It was so full that he was surprised many apprentices were learning anything sometimes. Yet, they all mostly cleared out after dawn. The prey pile remained stocked, and in the end, he supposed that was all that mattered. Though it wouldn't hurt if he were to check on their progress personally now would it? His head peeked in to see the grey tabby fur of Bluepaw and the white fur of Gladepaw.

"Bluepaw, Gladepaw." He called, breaking through they chatter of the other couple apprentice in the den. "Your patrolling with me this morning. Hunting patrol." He explained before he withdrew his head and padded over towards the camp exit with the expectation that they would follow. He stopped and stepped aside before entering it to let the apprentices through first.

OOC: You typed Berrypaw instead of Bluepaw in the first dialogue text! XD

IC: Bluepaw ran over to Marshstorm after being called to be on a hunting patrol. How exciting! The tabby female nodded a greeting to the deputy when she made it to where he was. Her bright blue eyes held pure excitement and joy. She was a hyper and lovable apprentice.

hunting... Gladepaw groaned. How boring... The white she-cat sat up in her nest, shaking out her messy fur. She glanced disdainfully at it, but ultimately could not be bothered to fix it, and she didn't want to keep Marshstorm waiting, more hunting duties were the last thing Gladepaw wanted. Quickly, she joined Marshstorm and Bluepaw, eyes narrowing at the other apprentice. How is she so excited?! The only thing worse than hunting duty is cleaning the elders! Her eyes, dropped from the apprentice to Marhstorm. "sounds... Great. I simply cannot wait." she mewed sarcastically.

(Woops XD Darn it. Fixed.)

Marshstorm waited with patience while Bluepaw bounded over, followed by a clearly reluctant Gladepaw. His head tilted at the sarcasm.
"Like it or not, it's part of being a warrior." He meowed shortly, then slipped through the entrance. He lead the way up the ravine and towards a small patch of clearing. A fallen log hid some mice that Marshstorm could smell, but they were lodged deep, and the effort was pointless. He turned to them instead once they were a good distance away.
"Alright, let's split up here. Good luck in your hunting... " He paused, then looked at Gladepaw with a firm look. "Gladepaw. I expect you to bring back at least one bit of prey." He meowed sternly before vanishing into the bushes to try his own luck at the hunt.

Gladepaw shrugged, now she was an apprentice, being a warrior didn't seem to be all that great. When she was kit she'd dreamed of her warrior ceremony, wondered what name she'd receive. Gladefang, Gladeclaw, Gladestorm... she ran the names through her mind eventually Gladestar, of course she chuckled at her own remark, though deep down, Gladepaw knew she wouldn't make a good leader. As a kit, she'd even considered having an apprentice, but even then, she'd known that was a little unrealistic, and she wouldn't have time for one, what with her busy schedule of eating... And sleeping... And grooming... And repeating. The fluffy apprentice let out a sigh, as she followed Marshstorm and Bluepaw.

Stopping, when Marshstorm did, Gladepaw took a moment to survey where they'd be hunting. It looked like the rest of ThunderClan territory, trees, trees, leaves, sticks and more trees- very interesting. Her ear's flickered, listening to Marshstorm, not paying full attention, but snapping back to reality when she heard her name mentioned. At least one?!" mewed Gladepaw "Marshstorm, please, you expect to much of me." Gladepaw waited for Marshstorm to leave, then turned to Bluepaw. "I claim this spot. Go hunt somewhere else, you're scaring away all the prey I'm not going to catch."

Gladepaw, didn't wait for Bluepaw to leave, and quickly set about tracking the scent of a hare. It couldn't be too far judging by its freshness. Chasing the scent, led the young white she-cat around in circles, until she eventually caught sight of the creature's ears. Instinctively, she dropped into a hunting crouch, creeping towards the long-legged mammal, as quietly as she could. Quietly, for Gladepaw, was not very quiet, and the hare seemed to agree too. The large she-cat steeped on a stick and bolted deeper into the territory. Gladepaw rose to her paws, disappointed, but not surprised.

IC: Bluepaw snorted, attempting to stop her incoming giggles at Gladepaw's sarcasm. She rolled her bright blue eyes and began to rush away, eager to get a catch. After a bit, the apprentice managed to find a mouse and began to stalk it. As soon as she reached a pouncing range, she leaped at it. Bluepaw pouted as it ran away. She huffed and went to go find another creature to catch.

The large tom heard Gladepaw's sentiment, but he sighed and continued on his own way to a small patch of greenery. He would deal with Gladepaw himself if the apprentice hadn't bothered. For now, he focused on finding prey. His jaws parted, drawing in the scents of the forest around him. Scanning them carefully, placing each scent with a name in his head until he came across the fresh trail of a mouse. It wasn't the largest prey, but it was something.

He worked his way steadily along the mouse trail. Finally spotting the creature in a small dip in the ground. His body flattened, amber eyes sharp as he crept forward carefully. His white tipped paws invisible under the dark brown parts of his coat that were barely lifted above the earth. As he drew closer, the call of an owl made him stop abruptly. His head lifted and so did the mouse's. Within a second, it bolted for cover, but Marshstorm was searching for the owl in the tree branches around him. He spotted the large bird several tail-lengths away. Eyeing it, he was relieved to see that it was a small one. Bleary eyed and nestling on it's branch. It must have been confused by a shadow and thought it was night. He huffed at the idea, then turned and padded in another direction. Let the thing sleep, if it didn't bother his apprentices. It was too small to take down a cat.
