Slashes and Scars[CLOSED]

Flamewish glanced up at the sun- or, rather, the absence of it. The dim red landscape was unsettling, like a post-apocolyptic world, or the Dark Forest, not the real world. She shifted her eyes back down to the river she stood by, crouched and ready. She shot her paw out to the fish, but instead went too far, too strong. She dropped down, flipping over and finding herself in a swirl of water. The water seemed harsher, more vicious than it usually was. She flailed out, only to slam the back of her head into a rock. Lights danced before her eyes due to the pain and holding her breath for so long. Flailing a bit more rapidly, she made it to the top and gasped up air. Blindly, she stumbled out onto land. She had to get to camp... Get to Fallowfoot. The ginger she-cat wobbled and then began to walk towards where she thought camp was, eventually in a straight line. She was tired, struggling and focused on staying consious. Little did she know, that 'camp' was the heart of Thunderclan territory.

(So I'll give her a disabled stats for this battle because of what just happened)

The skies were still a diluted, dark crimson, shaded by the masking of the sun and some mysterious forces. Seeing it in such a state was an uncomfortable feeling for the apprentice. Yet it seemed not to affect him as much as it did other cats. This was merely the way things were for the time being. Nothing had changed in the forest otherwise, at least as far as he knew. Bearpaw did not think too much about it as he split away from the small patrol he was accompanying. Regardless of the abnormal circumstances, the clan still needed to be fed. Cowering within the camp walls was not going to keep any cat alive. They were better off living like normal but with caution for the unknown.

Bearpaw stalked towards the river, finding a strange comfort in the fact that the noise of it still rushed as usual. His ear flicked as he simply listened for a moment. Closing his eyes, the tabby moved slowly forward, pawstep by pawstep. He had taken to practicing embracing the darkness and navigating it, as Marshstorm had taught him. It was becoming easier by the day. The biggest challenge was lightening the fall of his massive paws. There were still the hints of faint rustling with each step. But it did not slow him much. Just focusing on the feel of the earth, the smells, the sounds, and splash! Immediately his pale green gaze snapped open. Flecks of bright orange fur were easily spotted amidst the drying foliage. He growled softly and headed towards the source to the disruptive noise.

"You need to leave. Now." The bulky tom hissed at the strange cat. There was a faint scent of Riverclan that clung on despite the best efforts of the roaring waters to wash it away. An enemy cat was stumbling around in the middle of Thunderclan territory. Did they think that they could just make their home here? That Thunderclan would be weaker in the dying light of where the sun had once lived? They were mousebrains if that was the case. His many claws slid easily from their sheathes, more in the threat of a fight than a promise, "Go, now. And no one has to get hurt."

Flamewish didn't understand. Her blurred vision saw the overall shape of a cat. "B- But- What?" She murmured. She shook her head. Gradually, her vision was returning, but not fast enough. "Just let me past..."

Just let me past. Bearpaw stepped in front off her with his teeth just beginning to bear. Fangs were in full view now to complement his horrible claws. Both seemed to glint read under the faint glow of the sky. Was this warrior daft? She seemed to think that he would just allow her to continue. No Riverclan warrior would be allowed to get closer to any of his kin or clan. Her efforts to strain forward were thwarted by the heavy paw that slammed into the side of her head. Claws tore at the side of her face and ear all in one poorly aimed blow. The tabby had simply meant to give a warning with his initial hit but as he watched the blood pour, the tom supposed with a mild thought that his words had been the warning. It was her decision to try to continue on towards camp.

"I will toss you back into your river myself if you don't go home. Or I'll make you wish you had gone back. This is Thunderclan territory and it is going to stay that way." Bearpaw's fur raised on his shoulders and neck but laid flat elsewhere. Few things could change his mild-mannered personality. Defending the territory was one of them. He was not particularly hard-hearted towards the swimming clan yet if any cat crossed the border they were fair game. It was in the code. Besides, Riverclan was known for their theft of Sunningrocks. Although they were in paw's reach and on the land of this side of the river, the leader's before Jaystar had stolen them and refused to return the land without bloody fighting. The thought left a sour taste in his mouth overall, not specifically towards the whole clan. But now that he was faced with one who simply seemed contented to roam Thunderclan territory, his mindset darkened.

Flamewish let out a small gasp of pain. Her face... Wait, what? He thought they were in Thunderclan territory? "Impossible!" Her words were somewhat slurred and she flung out her paw, hitting him in the shoulder.

Sparks of pain flared up in his left shoulder. She was attacking him now, on his own territory. Although this was a warrior standing before him, the tabby apprentice did not slow. The Shadowclan cat who he had sent howling back to the marshlands had been more trained, more skilled, and he managed that. Bearpaw's eyes glowed, fueled by the desire to live out his duty as a warrior and protect his kin. Even only one Riverclan warrior would not be allowed to walk free here. He would make sure of that. As much as he could, despite his youth and inexperience, the carnal desire to protect seemed to almost burst out of his chest and explode. As Bearpaw did, he lunged forward, knocking the ginger cat over and pinning her down with many rows of claws. His maw was just whiskerlengths from his own.

"Why can't you just listen? This would be so much easier if your brain wasn't filled with fish..." Although there was an aggressive edge to the tom's tone, for the most part, his words were cool. As frustrated as he was with the actions of the Riverclan cat, Bearpaw was never one to entirely lose his temper. He could be caught up in an intensive fight and simply just be reacting out of instinct. None of this was personal. His tail flicked as he stared down and her, contemplating speaking up once more. However, so many words had already flown from his maw and fangs had rubbed the growing scars under his elongated teeth. Now was merely a time for action.

Flamewish struggled underneath the strong apprentice. "Let me go!" She spat. As soon as she got out, she'd run to camp. Nobody could stop her if she zoomed past them.

Bearpaw stayed in place, unphased by her pleas. His ear merely flicked as he dug in deeper, planning to pin her until the struggling ceased. But she showed no signs of letting up. What did this Riverclan cat need to do here that was more important than simply returning to her own clan? She was only one cat. There did not seem to be an invading patrol behind her. Had Bearpaw thought more deeply into the situation, perhaps he would have noticed her disoriented state. He still only had one thing on his mind, ridding Thunderclan's territory of this invader. Without a word, the younger tom let out a low hiss and sunk his claws in further, securing his spot for now.

Flamewish continued to struggle, resolve weakening. She still tried to blink the blur away, yet stayed unsuccessful.

While the warrior struggled, he could feel the feeble attempts growing steadily weakening. Good. Bearpaw leaped just off to the side and before she could move he lashed out at her soft underbelly. The flesh and fur easily yielded to the curvature of each finely cut claw. They tore away with one swift swiping of his forepaw. Blood poured from the wound. Perhaps his enemy would finally give up her struggle. Perhaps this would be what finally took her down like he had done with the Shadowclan intruder. Another blow or two and she would be racing back to her own territory, or she would fall under his claws. Then he could continue hunting and rush back to his clan.

Flamewish leaped to her feet as soon as his grip loosened. "You'll pay for that!" She snarled, still not sure who exactly she was fighting. She attacked again, yet still forgot to unsheathe her claws.

"Get off our territory!" He growled with more fire than before. The tom could feel the strength of her blows, something that had clearly come with time and experience. Combined with hints of pain was the draining exhaustion of the fight that seemed to go on. Of course, this was a warrior, more experienced than anyone he had ever fought before. His battle training with Marshstorm had been limited so far, another reason his strikes were wild and untrained. Bearpaw's eyes burned with that nagging frustration, something deep within that was kept at bay only by his mild nature. Another paw slashed at the warrior's neck, tearing away the fur and flesh. More blood. He didn't care. That was what happened when attacking another cat, when they decided it was their place to enter another's land. This was almost over, the tom could feel it, and he was ready for it to end.

Flamewish just wanted to go home... She blinked, about to ata n, and she could see clearly. She froze. That face... was so familiar! "W- Who are you and why do you look like Sharptooth?"

Given his mass, the tom was slower. His attacks, while powerful, took a moment longer than normal. He had been preparing to lash out with a final blow when she finally stopped. The fire within her green gaze, twisted mostly with confusion and the drive to fight this battle, subsided as she spoke. The Thunderclan cat watched her stop as his claws connected with the side of her maw a final time before dropping to the earth matted with the stranger's blood. Sides heaving with efforts, spurred on by adrenaline, the apprentice stared at his weakened. He had to stop himself. Anything more would kill her.

"Sharptooth?" Bearpaw's face instantly became twisted with a mild confusion. That name was familiar. She'd been his kin, before being banished from Thunderclan. This all happened before his time but the stories had been passed on. And the elders told him everything. His claws retracted, partially because the heat of the fight began to subside and also because he was processing the words of the other cat. Finally, not knowing what else to do with an enemy warrior, Bearpaw growled lowly, "You do not deserve to know about any Thunderclan cats. I will take you back where you belong and you better not tread here any longer."
