Mottled Waters [closed]

Blizzardshell smiled and nodded. "Might as well be. Let's go." Soon the duo were exiting the camp and heading to the River, Mottledpaw behind Blizzardshell.

The winter white warrior sat down and began to wait for his apprentice to wash off the bile. He made sure to sit a little further away so he didn't have to expose his nose to the pungent scent. Like he promised, after the younger finished washing, they were going to hunt.

IC: "Let's do fish since we're next to the river." the large tom suggested. He looked into the river, searching for any type of movement. Once something was spotted, he lifted a big paw. He was ready to scoop the fish up.

When the movement got the closest, he swiftly grabbed it with the unsheathed paw and threw it onto the land. It was a fairly large fish. It stopped moving after a few seconds on land. The warrior nodded to his apprentice, telling him to go next.

Blizzardshell nodded with approval at how quickly his apprentice caught the fish. The warrior liked to observe how  different everone's hunting techniques are. The tom shook his thoughts away and looked in front of him. He proceeded to execute the same process once again. Like the previous time, he swiftly caught and killed the scaled creature. The warrior was going to stop this hunting "patrol" once they each caught 3. He turned to watch Mottledpaw again.

Mottledpaw watched his mentor carefully as he, too, caught a fish. The apprentice noted how smoothly the older warrior moved, almost like he was an extension of the river just sending the fish down a different path. The tom nodded and tried again, gazing down intently at the water until he spotted another shadow under the surface. Mottledpaw struck down swiftly and tried to hook the fish up to the shore, but its weight surprised him and he lurched slightly over the water. With a short grunt he regained his balance and heaved the creature onto the shore as Blizzardshell had done. It landed with a clumsy flop and after a time grew motionless again.

"You're a great fish-catcher Mottledpaw! Keep it up! You're making Riverclan proud with the big fishes you're bringing back." Blizzardshell complemented. He the turned to face the river for the last time. As he had done the last two times, the warrior attempted to hook a fish. The white warrior succeeded in catching it and killing it. He tossed it into the fish pile he made then turned to address his apprentice, "Okay, catch one more and then we'll head back. We can't carry more than this."

Mottledpaw nodded, feeling encouraged and empowered by his mentor's words. He mewed, "Thanks, Blizzardshell!" Blizzardshell was a very considerate and supportive mentor. Mottledpaw appreciated him and his cool nature; it was good at keeping Mottledpaw from getting frustrated. The dark tortoiseshell apprentice eyed the water again, poising his body to strike. Almost without thinking about it he slipped his paw under a fish to hook it out, and it landed on the bank near his previous fish and flopped before going limp. Mottledpaw stood, tail in the air, and purred, "I did it!"
