Slatekit's Apprentice Ceremony

Mistyrain leaped up onto the Tallbranch, ready to address SkyClan. "Let all cats old enough to climb a tree gather beneath the Tallbranch for a Clan meeting!" she called, scanning the approaching cats. Slatekit was the kit who would be apprenticed today, and as SkyClan gathered, she searched for her among her Clanmates.

SlateKit went beneath the Tallbranch, she looked up at Mistyrain with a determined look on her face. Beneath it all was a shy and nervous kit. Slatekit had been waiting for this day ever since she meat Darkflower. “I-i-i am here!” Slatekit meows stuttering, shaking razing her right paw. A cold breeze flows through Slatekit’s pelt, reminding her of what happened outside the nursery.

Mistyrain cleared her throat, beginning the ceremony. "Slatekit, please step forward. You have reached the age of 6 moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed." She spoke loudly and clearly, gazing at the kit. She remembered her own apprentice ceremony - it had seemed like such an important event, then, but now it was just a vague memory. She wondered if Slatekit would ever feel the same. "From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Slatepaw. Darkflower will be your mentor, and I hope that she will pass on to you everything that she knows." The ceremony completed, Mistyrain raised her voice to join her Clanmates in congratulating Slatepaw.

Darkflower's tail flicked as she watched the familiar grey pelt of Slatekit, the kit she'd played with the other day, walk out among from the crowd. The image of the kit being apprenticed reminded her of her own ceremony, it didn't seem that long ago that she'd been in Slatekit's place, dreaming of being a warrior. She'd been so excited, she wondered if Slatekit felt the same.

She watched the ceremony with a proud smile, Slatekit was a good cat and whoever became her mentor was lucky. Darkflower wondered if it could be her, she was a warrior now and she had a good bond with Slatekit, so it wasn't out of the question. In fact, the tuxedo cat reckoned she was quite possibly the best choice, so when her name was called she barely felt surprised.

Darkflower got to her paws and joined Slatekit, now Slatepaw. She smiled softly at Slatepaw, then touched noses with her. "Training begins tomorrow at dawn. Be there." she mewed.

SlatePaw looked around at her Clanmates congratulating her on her success, her tail is wagging happily. SlatePaw couldn’t help but have a joyful grin of her face when Darkflower made her way next to her...”...what?! Already...man I really don’t get a break from this point on words”SlatePaw meows with a sigh. She looks at Darkflower, then at her Clanmates with a determined look on her face.”I know that it’s ganna be a lot of work to become as good as you Darkflower, but I’m up for the challenge!”
