Streamkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Leaping up onto the Highrock in one great bound, Leopardstar spun around and yowled out to the camp, his voice echoing against the ravine's stone walls.  "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Highrock for a clan meeting!"

Blizzardshine almost rushed towards Highrock after giving the kit of the moment one last good clean…even if probably didn’t need it. She just couldn’t help it, her fur rising lightly with pride and whole body tingling with excitement as yet another of her kits got to become an apprentice. It almost looked like she was the one getting the ceremony instead.

Streamkit waited patiently as his mom cleaned him for the sixth time that day. Yes, he had been counting. So when the call reached his ears and Blizzardshine basically pushed him out of the nursery with her nose he made his way towards the Highrock and sat in the front line. He had seen this same kind of ritual with his littermates, he knew what it meant…and it caused millions of conflicting emotions in the tiny kit as he looked at the leader with wide expectant eyes. While he was as excited as any kit getting their apprentice name he couldn’t help but also feel nervous beyond words. Who was going to be his mentor? Would they train him well? Would he be a good apprentice at all?

Leopardstar watched patiently as Blizzardshine led her kit out the nursery and beckoned him to the front of the waiting crowd; he did not hesitate to speak the old, but familiar, words.  "Streamkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed.  From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Streampaw.  Your mentor will be Beetlemask. I trust he will pass down all he knows on to you."

The white spotted tom didn't even look at his leader. He just walked to the small apprentice and touched noses with him. Blizzardshine's son, uh? Well, as far as he knew, he wasn't aware that the former leader had tainted blood but her mate... he was a filthy rogue who wasn't even part of the clan. What a disgrace was to train a cat who had that blood in his veins. He stepped back after the touch roughly and turned his body away from him as he grunted some words. "Clean the elder's den for today. If you manage to do it correctly, I will consider taking you out tomorrow."
