Evening patrol (closed)

Sitting by the camp entrance, Mudfoot listened to the almost completely silent evening air. A warm breeze ruffled the tom's sleek, rusty coat and he watched as it ruffled the newly leaves in the trees as he waited for Sootpaw to arrive so that they could start the border patrol.

Sootpaw bounded out of the den, excited for her first day out of camp, her first patrol, her first real day as an Apprentice! She slowed herself to a walk once she closed in on the camp entrance, and stopped before Mudfoot. "I'm ready!"

Glad that the younger she-cat was ready to go, Mudfoot padded out of the camp entrance with his daughter and apprentice at his side. "We're going to patrol the Thunderpath border, so follow me and stay close," he mewed warningly as they made their way through the marshy land.

Not long after they'd left camp, the two reached their first destination. "This is the Thunderpath," he spoke, wrinkling his nose at the foul scent that the unnatural, black path held. "Monsters run along it and they are very dangerous and have killed many cats, so be careful and never get to close, alright?" Mudfoot added in a more serious tone, making sure she knew the true dangers of this place.

Sootpaw wrinkled her nose in disgust. She hadn't imagined the smell to be this bad! What were the Twolegs thinking, putting this here? It looked bad, smelled bad, and she only imagined the Monsters had to be much worse if the Thunderpath was this bad.
She tried looking closer without taking any steps, just craning her neck, head, and body. Sootpaw was curious as to its origin, but she wasn't stupid. "I don't think getting close will be a problem. What's our next stop?"

Glad that she understood the dangers of the wretched smelling area, Mudfoot turned in the direction of their next destination. "Next, we'll patrol the Carrion Place," the warrior mewed as he began to head to the next horrible smelling place.

Sootpaw was quick to turn and follow Mudfoot. She couldn't help but thank StarClan they were leaving the wretched place. Anywhere had to be better than the Thunderpath...right?
She held in a snarky comment about leaving the area, but she was too thankful to be away from whatever Twolegs had over there.

Leading the apprentice to their next stop, they soon reached the next horrible smelling place. "Here we are," Mudfoot began. "Besides it smelling just as bad, what else do you know about this place?" the warrior asked, turning to his apprentice.

Sootpaw nearly gagged at the smell, and tried to cover her nose with her paw. This was just as awful as the Thunderpath! She turned at the sound of a squeak and a shuffling sound. A mouse? Or a rat? "This isn't Carrion Place, is it?" She placed her other paw on the ground and faced her mentor. "Will I ever get used to these smells?"

"Yes it is. And unfortunately, probably not," the warrior replied with a chuckle. "Some things to know about this place is that at times, it's crawling with Twolegs and giant monsters, but even when they're not around you have to be careful, for the rubbish is infested with hungry rats that won't hesitate to kill," Mudfoot finished, feeling a bit bad that there were so many things to warn the apprentice about.
