The tiny tabby glanced up, and all disappointment washed away, an extremely pleasant and warm feeling rushing through her veins at her mentor's kind words, and reassuring smile. Returning back a glowing beam, she murmured a quick "Okay,".

When Tawnyfang had announced what they were doing next, Featherpaw felt vastly different emotions all at once - determination, excitement, nervousness and unease. She was quite unsure on how to feel. Fighting seemed okay, and the knowledge of all the moves and techniques made her keen, but the results of war were bloody disasters and fatalities. That was the main aspect of being a warrior-in-training that stressed her greatly, and she was extremely worried about how she would deal a battle or skirmish. She couldn't cower away - that was out of the question. She wanted to help and serve her clan for its benefits, but she couldn't stand all the blood and screeching.

Not wanting to portray a negative reaction, she put on a facade of joy, hoping she was convincing enough.

Tawnyfang failed to notice the discomfort in Featherpaw and proceeded with the training. "This is front paw blow. It's a pretty weak move, but you never know when it could be useful. You can also unsheathe your claws for this move, for more damage," As she finished saying this, her paw shot out and struck her across the head.

Tawnyfang uses Front Paw Blow, dealing 7 damage and costing 5 stamina.

Featherpaw resumed listening attentively, quiet as a mouse, and sat near her mentor's paws. She glanced up, her whirling thoughts and concerns about battle training still buzzing busily at the back of her mind. Featherpaw forced herself to keep distracted from them, and focused on Tawnyfang's words, something about a front paw blow.


She was completely caught off-guard when Tawnyfang had shot out and inflicted a blow across her head. Nearly toppling over weakly, she remained upright, shaking her head to rid the dazed blur the strike had caused. She acted instinctively, not being mindful of her actions, and she utilized the same move her mentor had described and demonstrated, firstly leaping up to become level with her head. Her paw struck out, and she lowered to the floor, flattening herself against the ground. Featherpaw's eyes were wide as she prepared herself in case Tawnyfang struck again.

Featherpaw uses Front Paw Blow, dealing 4 damage and costing 5 stamina.

Featherpaw acted instinctively, and did it as a result of being confused and shocked by Tawnyfang's sudden blow. If she hadn't been so surprised, she wouldn't have acted, and would have just prepared herself for another move   . ))

Tawnyfang smiled proudly, ignoring the dull ache forming in her head. "Very good. Now, these next few moves will be a bit more powerful so brace yourself," She backed up some, and promptly ran into her, not too fast, but enough to knock her down.

Tawnyfang used Run-and-Tackle, dealing 9 damage and costing 10 stamina.

Featherpaw felt a burning glow of joy inside her chest, nodding as Tawnyfang warned her for the next few moves. Changing her stance so her legs were well-positioned to support her, she redirected her gaze to her mentor, readying herself.
As she noticed Tawnyfang backing up a bit, a fresh wave of nervousness engulfed her. The next move would surely be powerful if she would have to step backwards a bit. Flattening her ears and tensing her legs for the move, she struggled to resist the urge to unsheathe her claws to dig into the soft ground.

When Tawnyfang ran into her, Featherpaw had been prepared this time, but she still hadn't been strong enough to hold herself up. My weak legs are pathetic! she thought to herself, frustrated and disheartened.
She brought herself up and felt the throbbing pain, but she tried to bring her thoughts off it.

She winced as her apprentice collapsed, and immediately rushed over to help her up. "I'm sorry, I had no idea that I would knock you down. Okay, I won't practice on you anymore. I don't want to return you to camp black and blue," Tawnyfang chuckled, though it seemed a bit strained. "If you think you're well enough, feel free to try the move on me."

Featherpaw glanced gratefully at Tawnyfang when she assisted her up. "T-thank you," she stammered, her voice quiet, but appreciative. Featherpaw quickly added, "I think I'm okay," although she still sensed a bit of an ache in her chest. Putting on a small, strained smile at her mentor's offer to try the move on her, she nodded, reluctance well-hidden and not expressed

Taking a few steps back like Tawnyfang had done, Featherpaw breathed deeply. She hesitated a bit before charging at Tawnyfang, her legs speedily pushing against the ground. She braced herself for the impact, and squinted her eyes. The apprentice hoped it had been forceful enough to do at the least a little bit of damage.


Featherpaw used Run-and-Tackle, dealing 6 damage and costing 10 stamina.

Tawnyfang grunted, being momentarily knocked off her feet and left to stumble backwards. Still she quickly regained her footing and looked at her apprentice with pride swirling in his eyes, "Very good. If I hadn't been expecting it, I would've fallen over." She purred, giving her pelt a small shake, "Now, this is the final move you'll be able to practice on with me; belly rake. You have to slide underneath your opponent, claw at their underbelly, and scramble out before they have the chance to assess the situation." She would've shown Featherpaw, but the apprentice seemed to be weakening at the moment, so she hoped her guidance would suffice. 

Featherpaw's eyes lit up up, the ache in her chest instantly being replaced by triumph and happiness. She felt a sudden feeling of gratefulness that Scorchclaw had given her a supportive, understanding and patient mentor. Honestly, for a moment, Featherpaw had seriously doubted that her move would have been effective, considering her frail and small build. She was actually overjoyed that she had even managed to make Tawnyfang lose her balance, even though it was only slightly and momentarily.
The apprentice briefly gave her chest fur a few licks, while keeping her ears raised for the next instructions, and a description of the next move. This one was the final move she was doing, called the belly rake. Once she had redirected her gaze to rest upon Tawnyfang, she nodded, remembering the steps to the move. Visualising the belly rake in her mind, Featherpaw noted that, unlike run-and-tackle, her tiny build would be quite beneficial as she could easily and speedily slip underneath her opponent.
This time, the tabby didn't hesitate for as long. She sped towards Tawnyfang, and dropped low to get below her belly. Featherpaw nearly missed her chance to 'slash' it, and her paw shot out, sheathed, and made a pretend gash. She was slightly panicking, because she was worried that she had been too slow, so she hurriedly clambered out. Standing, she reflected on what just happened. It was a bit more difficult then she had expected, as she had to do so many steps at once, and at a fast pace.

The brown and white warrior stood there patiently as she tried the move, and waited for her to scramble out from underneath her before she continued speaking, "That was good for your first try, but you can do better. When you slide underneath your opponent, don't hesitate. If I were an enemy cat, I could've squashed you and watched as you suffocated. You have to be quick, okay?" Tawnyfang hoped she wouldn't be too discouraged. The last thing she wanted was to make her upset because she hadn't executed it perfectly. Shaking the thought from her mind, she continued the lesson.

"Next, is tail yank. For this move, you have to get behind your opponent, bite on their tail, and tug as hard as you can. If done right, they should be knocked off balance, long enough for you to perform another attack."

Featherpaw turned back towards her mentor, and paid attention to her constructive criticism. Silently, she agreed that she could have performed that move better - but it was a bit complicated, in her opinion. She was a bit disappointed with herself, but she made a promise, at that very moment, that she would try harder to complete the moves, with accuracy and as well as she could.

The young apprentice listened with curiousity as Tawnyfang told her the details on how to do a tail yank. The name gave the move away, but it was still helpful to learn how to do the move properly.

"Lastly, there is leap and hold. You pin down your opponent and claw at them while they are held down. Try it on me," Tawnyfang nodded and waited for Featherpaw to try and bowl her over.

Featherpaw stood, unmoving, rigid and concentrated, as Tawnyfang finished telling her about leap-and-hold. Nodding slowly, she imagined the action in her head, and she took a few decisive steps backwards. Changing her stance to prepare to run and leap, the apprentice scanned Tawnyfang's back and pinpointed the area she'd land on. It would be a bit challenging to stay on without unsheathing her claws, but it wasn't impossible.

The apprentice started her sprint, and jumped after tranferring the energy into her hind legs for a powerful push. She landed on her mentor's back lightly and made long lines with her paws, which would have been long claw marks in a real battle.

Tawnyfang grunted in response to her apprentice's actions, being knocked off her feet for a moment. Still, the Riverclan warrior was expecting this. With a mock snarl, she promptly started squirming, feeling Featherpaw's sheathed paws begin to slip. It wouldn't be long before she would shake her off completely.

As Tawnyfang started writhing, Featherpaw lowered herself into a crouch and tried to put more weight onto her front and hind paws, which were widely spreaded apart. Still, it had become difficult to keep a firm grip without them steadily sliding as a result of her mentor shaking. She kept concentrated on repositioning her paws so the couldn't slip completely, but she had mostly kept her focus on her front paws. With a sudden jolt, she realized her left hind leg had slipped. Twisting quickly, she barely landed on all four feet, having been shaked off her mentor.
