Newttongue's sides heaved and he had to power through the pain as his skin was slashed open. He reared up and his hind legs before the bird could get away and lashed out violently with his front paws. He was determined to make sure this wretched bird couldn't hurt them again.

Snowpaw watched as the owl collapsed to the ground after the attack, and she gasped as it tried to stand back up. Whimpering, she rushed out from her hiding place with a battle cry and slammed her shoulder hard into its back, causing it to fall back to the ground with a startled screech.

The owl could already feel its strength leaving it in midst of battle. It didn't stand a chance against two cats. It beat its wings powerfully, almost blowing Snowpaw away, and flew off, leaving the mouse behind.

Snowpaw used Run-and-Tackle on Owl, dealing 6 (+3) damage and costing 10 stamina.

Owl fled.

Newttongue panted and took a moment to watch the bird fly away, determining whether or not it was going to return. With his pelt clumping up with blood and adrenaline slowly beginning to leave him, he figured it was time to head home. The tom couldn't help the pride in his eyes at the idea of his apprentice driving away the owl. He let out a laugh and shook his head. "Looks like your first catch has an interesting story to it, hm? Are you okay?" The tom asked, looking over his apprentice with care.

Snowpaw nodded slowly, still shaken up from the unexpected battle. ”I-I think so. My face hurts a lot, though.” She winced as the pain of the talon marks began to sting anew now that the excitement of battle had diminished.

The tom let out a noise of sympathy and nodded. "Alright, let's head back and get patched up. I suppose we've gotten the basics of combat figured out. We'll definetly work on it more to ensure that we always send those brutish birds scrambling. I'm proud of you, y'know. You could have ran all the way back to camp at the first sight of trouble. I think you've earned a good meal and some rest. Just make sure you remember the scent of owl. It may save you later on." The tom said with a chuckle before flicking his tail and pushing past the ferns to lead the she-cat back to camp. "Don't forget that mouse. It might be crushed but it doesn't hurt to bring it along."

Snowpaw’s ears grew warm with embarrassment at the praise, but she still smiled gratefully, her wounds completely forgotten about for just a few heartbeats. It always pleased her to know she was a good ThunderClan cat — well, of course she was good, she was purebred. Still, it felt nice to hear.

Nodding to the command, she padded over and picked up the mouse gingerly by the tip of its tail, it’s body a crushed, bloodied mess. There would be no way she would get any of its disgusting blood in her mouth. Just the scent alone made her want to gag. She looked over at Newttongue and mewed through clenched teeth, ”Can we come back for more blackberries later?”
