Evening patrol (closed)

Sitting near the camp entrance, Tinylegs waited for some cat to join him with his long grey tail curled neatly around his tiny paws. A warm, comforting breeze ruffled his fur as he sat in silence, enjoying his own company. The little white tom had gone on plenty of patrols recently and while he could've just sat around camp and rested, he'd decided to help out and lead an early morning patrol around the borders, seeing that it was a better time passer than just laying in his nest.

Mosspaw padded out of the apprentice's den and glanced around camp, eyes shining as she searched for something to keep her busy. She wanted to grow up a strong warrior, after all, and the best way to do that was keeping herself occupied whenever she could. Her green eyes caught sight of her mentor, Tinylegs, and she trotted over. Mosspaw purred as she made her way over, tail flicking as she meowed a greeting, "Hello, Tinylegs! What are we doing today?"

Hearing approaching pawsteps, Tinylegs turned around to see Mosspaw, his new apprentice. Standing up, the small warrior gave his pelt a shake and a soft, cheery smile rested on his muzzle. "We'll be patrolling the RiverClan border today," he began and turned himself so that he was facing the camp entrance. Exiting camp, the small tom set a steady pace for the two of them, one that would give him enough time to chat with her about expectations and such before the actual patrol began.

"So, what can you tell me about RiverClan and it's borders?" the short tom asked, wondering if the she-cat had any prior knowledge on the neighboring clan.

Listening to the apprentice, it was evident that the young she-cat was lost for words, but he wasn't going to scold her for her lack of knowledge, seeing as though not many apprentices knew much on their first patrol.

"That's right," the small tom purred when she finished, a smile still on his muzzle. "While most of the clans have alliances with each other, they are still a bit shaky, which is why we as warriors must work hard to preserve the peace between our clans so that a war doesn't break out," he added. "And yes, they do like fish. I myself have never tried one, but it's such an odd food source that I can't possibly imagine what it tastes like," Tinylegs chuckled and walked a few foxlengths away so that he could mark the border. Once finished, he rejoined Mosspaw’s side and turned his stout body in the direction of their next destination.

"Next, we’ll patrol the ThunderClan border," he spoke and began trotting in the direction he was facing.

Mosspaw stared at the border for a bit longer, before trotting after the short warrior. She was still surprised that Tinylegs accepted the terrible information. Maybe he pitied her, or perhaps she was actually right? Confident, she allowed her chest to puff out just a little as she walked beside him. At least she knew that she could speak her mind. "I don't remember a whole lot about Thunderclan, but last time I checked, their leader was Blizzardstar?" She regretted saying that, only a little. The information could be outdated; anything could happen. "'Anything' happened to Father," She recalled sourly.

Nodding his head at her reply, she was right, well, to some extent. "Their leader was Blizzardstar. I heard word that the leadership has recently changed, but I'm not quite sure who it changed too," Tinylegs replied with a slight shrug of his shoulders. They would find out who the new leader was at the next gathering, so he wasn't going to dwell on trying to find out who it was.

"Would you like to do some hunting on the way back?" the small tom mewed as he turned his long body in the direction of the camp.

"Yes, I would like to," Mosspaw purred as she trotted back in the direction of camp, her bright greem eyed sharp as she watched for prey. The black and white she-cat opened her maw and sniffed the air for any potential animals that she could catch.

Catching sight of a thrush, the she-cat paused and dropped into a crouch. Stalking towards it, she kept her tail off the ground to avoid it brushing against the forest floor and startling the bird. Once close enough, the she-cat leaped forwards with powerful back legs and claws unsheathed, pinning down the bird before it could have a chance to take flight. After finishing it off with a quick blow, she trotted back to Tinylegs's side, pride shining in her gaze.
