Haykit's Apprentice Ceremony

Swiftstep hopped up onto the Tallrock with a shaky sigh. This was his first time addressing the clan as the deputy. He was a tiny bit nervous but he stood tall, a serious expression on his face. One of the kits of the nursery was ready to step into the next stage of their life. A ghost of a smile formed on his muzzle as he thought of how excited this young cat would be. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather underneath the Tallrock for a Clan meeting!" Swiftstep called with an authoritative tone.

Haykit emerged from a clump of excited cats, a small smile on his face as he looked up at the deputy.

The brown tom looked directly down at Haykit before continuing, "We all gather here today to make one of our kits an apprentice. Haykit, please step forward." Once the little tom did, the deputy nodded approvingly and then began to speak again, "Haykit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Haypaw. Silverstreak will be your mentor. He may be young but I trust that he will pass down everything he knows on to you."

Silverstreak's deep blue hues lit up as his name was mentioned. He was a mentor! This was very exciting. His apprentice would be the best. The tall tom walked up to his apprentice and bent down to touch noses. "Our training will start in the afternoon. I really don't like dawn training. Be ready and full of energy by then! Also, don't be late! We have so much to cover." Once he said the last sentence, the warrior walked away with a proud gaze.
