The Prey is Ours[CLOSED]

Spotfur stood by the entrance to camp. "I'm leading a hunting patrol, who wants to come with?" He called.

Duckpuddle slipped out of the warriors' den after hearing Spotfur's call. Hunting would be nice. She didn't want to be cooped up in camp all day when she could be helping her Clan. Her hind leg was getting a lot better, and it was starting to heal at a rapid pace. She had been able to get in some efficient swimming sessions. Putting on a calm smile, the brown warrior padded over to the younger tom and dipped her head in a respectful greeting.
"Hi, Spotfur," She said, "Mind if I join you?"

"I'll come too, if that's alright," Ravenflight mewed, padding quickly up to Spotfur and Duckpuddle. She sat beside the other she-cat to wait, fiercely contemplating whether fish or vole tasted better.

Stormpaw pranced towards the warriors, holding his feathery tail high. "Don't worry," dark-gray tom mewed, his sunny yellow eyes narrowed as he reached the small group. "You don't have to ask me- I'll come on your patrol, Spotfur. You're welcome." He added, giving his tufted ears a flick. This was his moment! He could show the warriors just how skilled of an apprentice he was when he caught the biggest fish. The sleek apprentice kneaded the ground anxiously. "Well? Are we going or not?" He had to make sure Spotfur was leading his patrol right, after all.

Spotfur nodded to the two warriors. "Alright, let's get go-" He was interrupted by the proud apprentice Stormpaw. He looked down at the apprentice. "We're going, Stormpaw. If you would close your mouth for just a single moment, you'd have heard that." He turned around and walked out of camp, towards the river. Soon enough, they approached the water. He stilled himself and looked into the water enough to find a good-sized fish. Lightning-fast paws flipped it out and bit its neck. He looked around to find more prey.

Duckpuddle found it difficult to hold back an eye-roll after Stormpaw trotted up. The spunky young tom seemed to differ greatly from his father when it came to personalities. However, the brown warrior didn't focus on it for that long. She followed Spotfur out of camp and kept her ears pricked and her nose lifted in order to scent out prey. The she-cat silently branched away from the patrol and headed towards the source of a scent that she had managed to pick up. The mouse picking around in the undergrowth had its back to her, so the RiverClanner decided to use that to her advantage. Dropping into a crouch and stealthily creeping forwards, the she-cat managed to keep her paws quick and quiet. She sucked in a soundless breath, and then she leaped forward.

Her shadow fell over the little creature and it managed to let out a squeak of shock as it darted away and out of her reach. Duckpuddle couldn't help but let out a slight, quiet groan of disappointment.
What is wrong with you?
Her warriorhood had made the majority of her self-depreciative thoughts, but she still had then every now and then. Trying to hide back her frustration and embarrassment, Duckpudddle rejoined the little patrol.

Ravenflight followed Spotfur out of camp, holding back a laugh at his small remark to Stormpaw. She padded downriver from him a little ways and sat at the bank to catch her own fish. She flipped a silvery body out of the water and killed it with a quick blow.

Stormpaw huffed. "Well if you had said it louder..." But the others weren't listening. The yellow-eyed tom nearly- nearly -looked at his paws in embarrassment.
But what would Cinderpaw say if he saw him acting weak? Stormpaw gritted his teeth as Ravenflight snorted quietly, but shook his head to clear it. They'd be sorry when he became the best hunter in all of Riverclan!
There was only one problem- the dark tom had never been hunting. Sure, he'd seen it done plenty of times, but he'd never actually tried it before. Stormpaw flicked his feathery tail and sat down by the river, copying Spotfur. The fluffy tom stared into the water, searching for a flicker of silver (he assumed that was what he was looking for). "Aha..." The long-legged apprentice could see a small minnow swimming beneath the waves. He loomed over it, one paw trembling over the water...
A small groan made him jump, and the fish, noticing the young apprentice, swam away. Stormpaw turned away in indignation, his mouth open to say something, when he caught sight of Duckpuddle.
Oh. "Uh... d-don't worry, Duckpuddle." He mewed, trying his best to sound comforting. "Mice are for weak Thunderclanners, anyway."
Stormpaw turned back to the water just in time to notice a small silver fish leap out of the water. With a swift flick of his paw, Stormpaw managed to get the fish out of the water. "Ah! I got one. What do I do now...?"

Spotfur turned away smirking from Stormpaw. His paw shot in and out of the water- reflexes from seeing movement. The fish was caught.
