Palekit's Apprentice Ceremony

Crowstar called out to his clan. "Let all cats old enough to climb a tree gather here for a clan meeting!"

Palekit woke with a start. She heard Skyclan's leader, Crowstar call out from the highrock. She came out the nursery and sat down below the highrock. 'What is it this time?'

The spotted tom stepped closer to the meeting place and he settled down, waiting for Crowstar announcement. Shadepaw's death still caused him pain in his heart but he had to move on for the rest of his kits. His son and former apprentice wouldn't want to see him depressed all the time.

With that thought in mind, Foxhunter glanced at his daughter. She was already six moons old so this was probably her apprentice ceremony.

Palekit stared at Crowstar curiously. While waiting, she scratched her blind left eye. She scented her father behind her. "Father!" she called, bounding towards Foxhunter, "What do you think the clan meeting is about?"

"We are gathered to name another apprentice. Palekit please come forward." The leader waited for the kit to come forward. "Palekit from this moment forward until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Palepaw. Your mentor will be Echoflame." The leader said to the apprentice.

Palekit was shocked when Crowstar called her name. She stepped forward and listened to the leader seriously. 'My mentor... Echoflame?' Palepaw looked around after hearing her mentor's name. She really wanted to get to know who her mentor was. They could be great friends! Palepaw dipped her head to the leader. "Thank you." she said.

The tom just smiled softly at his daughter, trying to keep the surprise. He had no doubts that this was her apprentice ceremony and he wasn't wrong. When the leader called her name, Foxhunter watched his kit stepping forward to greet her new mentor: Echoflame. The kit of the deputy. It was a wise choice.

The warrior approached her."Congratulations, Palepaw. Train hard and don't give up until the day you become a warrior." He purred.

Palekit grinned happily. "Thank you for the encouraging words, father!" she said. She headed towards, not to the nursery but to the apprentices' den. She wondered how her mentor looked like.

The brilliantly speckled black and white cat stepped forward to Palepaw. She bent her head, and touched noses to her newest apprentice. "Are you ready for a tour?" she asked her new apprentice with a grin.
