Blossompaw thought about this. "Did you happen to see how full the fresh-kill pile was?
I mean, of course, it's going to be small, but how small? We already have two pieces of prey. This is a really cozy branch though..." She let her long fluffy fur, well, fluff, and settled down a little more, no longer clinging to the trunk.

"I think i'm gonna try to hunt in the trees," Russetpelt mewed, carefully standing up. He scanned the nearby trees for any prey, then spotted a cardinal on just the next tree. He carefully shifted into a hunting stance, and leaped to the other tree. He quickly slashed his claws and the bird was limp. He picked it up and leaped back to the other tree, and carefully placed it in an abandoned owl hole. "You can try if you want! Or we can just chat."

As Russetpelt hunted a cardinal, Blossompaw slid down the tree and picked up the earlier prey, placing it in the same hole as the other bird. She tried to leap from branch to branch a few times, each time getting better. "I almost want to do flips now, but that's... super dangerous. I don't know about you, but I don't want to die."

”I think we can all agree on that,” Russetpelt chuckled. ”You’re getting a lot better! Keep that up and you can definitely hunt in the trees.”
The red-brown tom hauled himself up higher. He then leaped to a maple tree. ”That’s not too far of a leap, why don’t you try?” The young warrior suggested. Blossompaw is cool. I like her. Then another thought hit him. But in what way?

Blossompaw followed Russetpelt up the tree. She crouched and bunched her legs together, then let herself fly. Claws out immediately, Russetpelt's voice rang in her head. She landed with a thunk in front of him. "Ta-daaaa!" She sang.

”Haha awesome!” Russetpelt purred. Okay dang I think I do like her like that.
”You should try to hunt up here. If you can do that, you are good to go.”

IC: Blossompaw looked back at the maple tree. A pretty robin had landed. She bunched her legs and leaped, landing quickly by the startled robin, who began to flap its wings, but Blossompaw was too fast for it. She killed it and turned back to Russetpelt, eyes gleaming. "I did it! And the robin didn't fall!" Or me. She set the robin in the owl hole they were using and climbed back up to Russetpelt, fur brushing his.

It didn't even fell unnatural. Russetpelt accepted the affection, and smiled. "That was a wonderful catch!" He praised.

IC: Blossompaw couldn't hold back a purr. Rippedsky had helped train her, but he seemed pretty stern, and Elmcloud was so... meh. But Russetpelt... Russetpelt was kind and talented, and he helped her be a real Skyclan cat! The praise made her feel warm and fuzzy inside despite the bitter cold, though her fluffiness helped keep it out. Her tail curled around the branch, helping her stay on as she shuffled slowly closer to Russetpelt. She hoped the handsome warrior didn't mind because otherwise, that would be really embarrassing.

Oh he noticed alright. It kind felt weird, but he didnt seem to mind. "So.. what are your favorite things to do?" Russetpelt asked, not really knowing what else to say. Plus, its always good to get to know someone better.

Blossompaw blinked, relieved that he didn't comment on her small act of affection. "I don't do much, really. I like hunting, I guess, I really like kits, and..." Butterflies were fluttering in her stomach. "I like hanging out with you."

Well, that came out of nowhere. Russetpelt thought, chuckling. ”And I like hanging out with you,” He replied, blushing. What else can he say? It was true, he really liked Blossompaw.

So that was happening. Now he scooted closer to Blossompaw.

IC: Blossompaw's insides were fluttering, her heart beating quickly. Russetpelt liked hanging out with her? Did that mean they were friends? She hadn't felt this ever before. What was it? It was happiness, it was nervousness, it was the want to be close. Then she realized what she was feeling. It was love! The wind blew through the leafbare trees, carrying leaves and scents with them. The cold had been warmed by the connection between Russetpelt and Blossompaw. She could feel her own and his heartbeat, the breathing of him, the rippling muscles beneath rust-colored fur...
