Squirrelkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Ashstar leapt onto the Tallrock. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather underneath the Tallrock for a Clan meeting!" she yowled commandingly.

Squirrelkit walked out of the nursery at Ashstar's voice. She looked up curiously as she waited for the meeting to continue.

Ashstar nodded approvingly at the young kit. "Squirrelkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Squirrelpaw. Fernfeather will be your mentor. I hope she will pass down all she knows on to you."

Fernfeather's ears pricked up in dead surprise. With her losing her left eye not too long ago, she thought she would never be able to hunt and fight for her Clan the same way ever again, let alone mentor a cat! Could she really teach her little sister everything there was to know to grow into a strong WindClan warrior with her disability?

...Oh, what was she thinking? Of course she can!

Fernfeather leaped up to her paws eagerly and approached Squirrelpaw eagerly, then touched her nose to her new apprentice's, her one good eye shimmering with delight. "I'll do my very best to teach you everything Quailfeather taught me. You and I are gonna have lots of fun together!"
