Time to tolerate each others existence! (Closed for Ripped)

Oh. My. Starclan. She really had to patrol with this loser? She had a wrecked tail for starclans sake! Have mercy! But nope, she had to do a hunting patrol with Coyotepaw. Specklefang sat, grumbling as she waited for him.

"Let's go." Coyotepaw muttered as he padded up next to the burly she-cat. Of all the cats in the clan, he had to be assigned to the one whose presence he least appreciated. The apprentice did not like being around anyone, really, but Specklefang was the worst. He waited for her to leave the camp entrance and followed her out.

Specklefang was quick to pick a spot where the prey smelled distinctly richer, her mangled tail raising, nowhere close to being completely healed. Specklefang sniffed the ground before opening her mouth and tasting the air, a sharp green eye quickly spotted a bird and her belly rumbled. She moved swiftly with an odd step here and there, her paws hitting clumsily and her back-side swaying awkwardly, nothing like her usually coordinated and precise paw-steps as she scrabbled her way up the tree. Making her way across the branch, she crept up on it then leaped.

Specklefang's paw slapped onto it's tail feathers before she swiftly snapped it's neck, leaping down and hitting the ground with the thump and a wobble.

Thankfully, the warrior seemed to be holding her tongue today. Coyotepaw followed silently. He broke away from her quickly to hunt some distance away. With any luck, there would be few words exchanged today. A fluttering in undergrowth ahead caught his attention. A bird had given away its position. The robin pecked around at the roots of a tree, searching for a meal of its own. His long tail lashed as he crept forwards. It was only a few tail-lengths away. The apprentice crept stealthily forwards with his eyes locked on the creature. Once it was in range, he leaped forwards. Long claws sunk into the feathers, and soon after his teeth. They most likely wouldn't find much more right now. But, he was thankful for a decent catch.

Specklefang kicked dirt on her bird before she smelled the air, to her surprise she tracked down a hare relatively swiftly. Quickly, she followed it's scent trail, her eyes ever diligent. It wasn't long before her eyes caught the massive prey animal, ears flicking back she stalked it then leaped for it, her claws extended. The hare didn't see her coming despite the odds, slamming her paws onto its back she quickly snapped her jaws around its throat and her paws holding its nose and jaw closed. Specklefang rolled with it, her tail smacking the ground as she put an end to its life.

After putting a light coat of dirt over his prey, Coyotepaw went off to find more. A sound from off to his side told of Specklefang's success. Hopefully, he could do just as well for today. His stomach growled. The tom would most certainly scarf down the prey for himself if he did not already know apprentices who had gotten in trouble for it before. He was so close to fulfilling his mother's dreams for him.

Continuing on, the apprentice continued on. There was a scent he did not quite recognize ahead. But, it seemed like prey to him. Coyotepaw's ear flicked as he stalked towards the rustling in the bushes. He pounced. Paws landing on dirt, he cursed. A tiny silver fish flopped around near the tiny stream and before he had a chance to recover it, it disappeared into the water.

Kid lost a fish. Stupid apprentice, trying to catch a fish on land. Nothing was added to your inventory.

Specklefang didn't bother meowing to Coyotepaw that they should head back, after all, she smelled no more prey scent and the forest seemed to fall silent. Specklefang's tried to make eye contact with the young tom before grasping her hare and tucking her bird under her chin and made her way back to camp in silence.

Coyotepaw noticed as hunting partner turned and collected her prey. The massive she-cat was some ways off, but he saw. There did not appear to be much more out to catch. His ear twitched in a mild aggravation. There was not much prey around and he had failed by only catching one thing today. That would mean his own take would be less. With a dissatisfied hiss, the apprentice gathered up his catch and turned to head back for camp.
