The Family You Never Knew You Had [Closed]

Hawkstrike was walking towards the border with ShadowClan on his own, the only light being the moon and the cursed stars shining above him. It was an old habit of his, and even if he had somewhat successfully adapted to the daytime routines of skyClan, there were times he felt the urge to wander around at night like in the old times, when he still called himself Owlstrike of ShadowClan. Also while he didn’t like the proximity to his old clan he had been forced to move closer in his search for prey.

Usually he referred to hunt alone, at first it was to not blow up his cover as a SkyClan old member with his obvious lack of skill at hunting the prey native to the clan’s territory, and now that he had finally adapted to it, the reason was more of him not wanting to keep his goody two shoes mask all the time, and being away from the rest of the clan allowed him to be himself. Plus, nobody asked nor cared if a prey had been killed in a slightly messy way, and it was a good way to deal with the rage that constantly burned deep within him.

He was checking a trail left by what he guessed was a squirrel when some movement on the other side of the border caught his attention, making his whole fur stand on end and already unfriendly expression turn into a frown. He wouldn’t be surprised if he crossed paths with a patrol at this time, but even if any other cat would feel intimidated with the idea of facing several cats on their own, he wasn’t one of them.

Waspstep was the only cat out at this point in time. A patrol had already passed through here earlier in the night. He didn't expect any Skyclan cat to be out at this point in the night, but here he was spotting a brown tabby cat on their side of the border clearly not happy by his appearance. "Don't mind me just taking a walk." The warrior informed so there wasn't any senseless hostility.

Hawkstrike growled softly as the ShadowClan tom approached him. While he wanted to say he recognized him…well, he had a vague memory but that’s all. He probably was one of those cats gathered around them as he was exiled from ShadowClan so many moons ago, spitting insults at them just like Mudfoot. The memory didn’t sit well with the brown tabby as he hissed at him, not even trying to hide his growing aggression, after all, Hawkstrike wasn’t one of those who needed much provocation to jump into battle, if any “Why would you take a walk this close to the borders?” His voice was slightly deeper than usual thanks to his anger. He knew that he had trouble to tolerate ShadowClan cats after all what they had done to him, but it has been so long since he had faced one without a mask that it was surprising even to him.

The senior warrior stopped, not really caring about Hawkstrike's hostility. "To get away from others in my clan for now. A patrol already came through so there won't be any other cats coming through here for a while." He didn't have any intentions of crossing the border. He also was tired of his father. Always taking different mates.. How many did he have by now? Did he not care for Ferretshine's memory?

Hawkstrike was surprised, and not exactly in a pleasant way. Most cats would react with the same aggression he was showing when they crossed paths with a cat from another clan at their borders, especially if they were clearly aggressive in their approach. However, this cat was just brushing him off, and while he needed little to no provocation to attack him he didn’t want to get in trouble by attacking without any reason. Even a tiny insult from the other cat would give him the excuse he needed…maybe he needed to push this a bit more somehow “With a clan full of foxhearts like yours, I’m not surprised”.

Waspstep let out a small sigh, and sat down. It didn't seem like this tom was going to leave him alone. "Yeah there are a few of those.. Some of those continue to live in the clan to this day and be praised as great warriors like my father, and that elder they call a great leader." The tom said. "Never cared for Mudfoot and Thrushstripe anyway.." The tom said in a quieter tone, though Hawkstripe could still hear him.
