The Lark's Nest [Open]

Larksong was exhausted as she laid curled up in her nest, her eyes half-open in order to keep track of her young adventurous kits. It was hard to put into words how proud she was to finally be a mother, even if it had pained her to leave the warrior's den as she hated being away from her father's side ever since his return. She shook her head as she stretched out her paws, pushing herself into a more up-right sitting position as she looked over to where Frostkit, Thistlekit and Greykit were. The queen couldn't deny that she missed being a warrior despite the joy of being a mother but it was nice to simply relax for a bit...Even if it reminded her a bit to much of her time as a kittypet. She gave her pelt a shake at that thought, chasing away those memories as she focused her attention on her kits to make sure they weren't going to get into trouble as all three of them seemed to have a mischievous streak.

Frostkit mewed a little as she rolled and padded around happily, exploring her new nest. She occasionally nuzzled against her litter mates or bumped against them cheekily.

The half black tabby half golden ginger tabby often seemed to get herself in trouble the spiky thistly furred kitten bright golden amber eyes looked up and over to her mother as they sparkled with mischief. She had only just gotten herself into trouble moments before so Thistlekit had settled for playfighting with her siblings. She had turned to Frostkit and batted her with one black front paw.

Frostkit growled playfully and pounced on her, biting her softly and playfully. She sent them both into a Tumble with the playful pounce. Her tail was flicking happily as they engaged in the play fight, mewing happily as they did.

Stepping into the nursery with a drippinf wet mossball in the mouth, Mudfoot let out a purr as he approached Larksong, his sister who'd just recently had kits. He was so proud of her and knew it must've been exhausting, especially with the little bundles of fur already running around play fighting.

"Larksong, are you awake?" the older warrior whispered and set the ball of moss down next her the nest where she laid.

"Yeah! Mom's awake! 'oo names their kit Mudfoot? Mudkit? Your momma musta really hated you! Bein' named after sumthin that's icky an' sticks to your paws all day isn't somethin to be proud of!" Greykit stumbled over her mother, opting for the harder way towards the red tom who knew he was her uncle but was still rather strange. Stumbling away on unsteady paws away from her tussling siblings, her face scrunching in disgust.

Facing the much larger tom the she-cat's tail gave a lash as she sized up the tom. Launching onto the tom with tiny claws unsheathed and spread toes she dragged herself onto the toms back, legs kicking and scratching wildly as she struggled to right herself. "I demand a ride! Great beast!" Demanded the small kitten.

Larksong watched Frostkit and Thistlekit play with one another with a soft purr, her gaze jerking up in surprise as a form pushed its way into the den. Her eyes lit up at the sight of her brother, straightening up but didn't have time to form a response before Greykit suddenly interrupted her and property insulted the older warrior. "Greykit!" Larksong hissed softly as her daughter launched herself at the red warrior and struggled to stay on. The queen sighed as she shook her head, flashing an apologize look at Mudfoot. "I'm sorry about her - out of all of them she is my little troublemaker," she cooed as she shifted in her nest to a more comfortable position. "...Its wonderful to see you thought Mudfoot, came to visit your nieces huh?"

Frostkit saw the stranger enter and slowly tapered off the fighting. She got out of the tangle that she and her sister had gotten into and padded over to Mudfoot. She rubbed against him curiously, sniffing his scent. "W-who is this?"

Thistlekit had blinked then growled at her sibling pushing her off of her and got to her paws just in enough time to see the red pelted tom enter the den. Curiosity got the better of her and she approached him on shaky paws.

"Come on, Pipsqueaks." A voice sounded from the entrance, Ravenclaw's dark shape finding it's way back to her warm nest. Her tail flicked in friendly greeting to Larksong. Admittedly, she'd been happy when the nursery wasn't quite so empty anymore with her friend's presence. "Try not to cause too much trouble."

She'd just taken her kits out for a small walk around camp.

One of the she-kits was a walking puffball, fluffed up to try and fight against the cold. "Mudfoot! Larksong!" She squeaked. "I saw the ugliest frog outside!"

Frostkit stepped back, nervous around the new people. "H-hello"

Somewhat surprised by the kit's appearance, Mudfoot turned his head to see a little grey kit staring up at him with wide eyes. As he watched her stumble over Larksong, the tom couldn't help but let out a chuckle of amusement. Kits were so innocent and silly, he couldn't even imagine disliking them, seeing that they usually had their hearts in the right place.

Before he could reply to her comment about his name, she'd climbed onto his back and he winced as sharp tiny claws dug through his fur. Crouching down with a kit on his back, Mudfoot looked to his sister who had hissed at the kit for being so rambunctious. "It's alright, I don't mind," he mewed and stood up. "And yeah. If I'd known they were already so hyper, I would've prepared myself better," he laughed and turned to look at Frostkit. "I'm Mudfoot, Larksong's brother," he purred with a smile, purposefully leaving out the adopted part as to not make things complicated. Besides, him and Larksong were pretty close so he didn't think that saying that he was adopted was necessary anymore.

Turning his head back to Greykit who sat on top of him, the tom gave a mischievous grin. "Better hang on," he mewed and with that, the tom started jumping up and down. It wasn't very high, seeing how crammed the nursery was, but it was enough to rile a kit up. After a few moments, the warrior laid down. "Alright, the beast is tired now," he half huffed, half chuckled and looked to the den entrance where Raveclaw and Ebonykit had just entered. Giving a nod of greeting to the queen, he turned to look at Ebonykit who was just as excited as Greykit.

"Well, I've never seen any decent looking frogs so I sure hope that it was ugly or else I'd be worried," he laughed. It sure did feel good to be able relax like this.

Larksong sighed as her kits moved to surround Mudfoot, Thistlekit and Frostkit looking a bit more timid of the tom then Greykit had been. She shook her head with a sigh, only for her ears to perk as Ravenclaw pulled herself in with her kits following behind her. "Ah, there you are Ravenclaw!" she purred with a flicker of her tail, having noticed the other queen's absence when she had awoken to watch her kits. Her gaze shifted to the young Ebonykit as the kit - looking like a little ball of fluff - spoke up. She laughed along with her brother's lighthearted jab, happy for all the warm company as it was tiresome being stuck in this den almost all day...Certainly was better then staying in Honeydrop's den however as she just felt lost in all the potent scents of herbs that place gave off. With a content purr, the queen laid her head on her paws as she watched the gathered group, happy to be surrounded by such happy company.

Greykit squealed with joy as she bounced and swung around, and was quick to protest the end of the ride but slid off regardless. Her attention was taken quickly by the squeal and announcement of another kit, Ebonykit. Greykit's pupils blew wide and she wasted no time to launch for the puffy black she-cat, her curved claws unsheathed as she squealed. Rolling the she-cat over.
