The Lichen's Bird and orchids(open )

Lichenfang didn't expect to have another kit but here it was. She had only given birth to the two she cats but she didn't mind. She watched her almost look alike with fond eyes. She had decided that she would let her out for her first time if she choose to go out that was. Gently nudging Birdkit with a mother's gentlest touch,she attempted to wake the small kit. Smiling"Birdkit sweetheart it's time to wake up...we are going to go outside today"she mewed softly.

Birdkit mewled out softly, attempting to open her eyes. She succeeded only to close them again as her sight was quite limited and delicate. She soon relaxed again as she felt her mother's gentle touch. She heard her mother speak to her softly. "Birdkit sweetheart it's time to wake up...we are going to go outside today." 'Go outside'? Her curiosity got the better of her as she opened her eyes and looked up at her mother with a quizzed expression. She then nuzzled into her mother's fur and began to purr.

Lichenfang smiled some With a pur watching her daughter open her eyes then close them again. She then smiled as the she kits curiosity got the better of her."of course we are going outside"She purred. She turned her attention tion to her other daughter whom for a moment forgot she was there until she said the vibrant blue eyes open."Morning Orchidkit dear it's time to wake up. We are going ourside"She purred before she started to stand carefully. As she stood her scars on her flank and chest which held long forgotten memories of her apprentice hood gleamed in the dim light despite the fur starting to grow and drape over it.

Orchidkit blinked and smiled some With a excited squeak she jumped to her paws.

Little Birdkit was more reluctant to get up but after witnessing her sister's enthusiasm she jumped up and playfully pawed her sister's tail. She then looked over at her mother and mewed excitedly wanting to head outside.

Lichenfang purred"alright now stay close for the moment and try not to get in anyone's way"Lichenfang mewed before leading her daughters out of the nursery. Once outside the nursery she sat down near the entrance"you can explore just don't get under the warriors paws"she mewed.

Orchidkit gave a purr and batted her sister with a gentle paw before following her mother out of the nursery. With an excited squeak she moved farther into the camp before pausing and looking back to her sister"you coming?"She called


Meanwhile a gray and ginger warrior sat with a mouse between her paws. Though looking up hearing the kits she gave a purr. Cinderfrost smiled looking at them.

"Yeah, yeah I'm coming!" Birdkit called back. Truthfully, she felt a little overwhelmed. There was an enormous world outside the nursery and she was so small. She put those thoughts aside. Her sister's enthusiasm to explore suddenly rubbed off on her as she bounded towards Orchidkit. She wanted to play! She batted her sister and scurried a few inches away. She turned around a visible playful expression was on her face. She called out, "Come and get me!"

Leopardclaw couldn't help but feel a bit guilty.  Shortly after he had been promoted as Blizzardshine's deputy his mate Lichenfang had given birth to a surprise litter; two precious she-cats.  He had been there for their birth, but his new duties had kept him away from visiting for the most part.  Padding into camp after a solo patrol, he noticed with delight that his mate and new kits were out frolicking in the smoke-stained clearing.  With a purr, Leopardclaw padded over towards the nursery; duties could wait.

Blinking softly at Lichenfang, he bent his head to touch noses with her before turning to the two small she-kits.  Orchidkit...the little spotted gray tabby, and Birdkit...the spitting calico image of her mother.  With a smile, he crouched down to their level and introduced himself.  This was the first time he had seen them with their eyes open.  "Hello little ones, I'm Leopardclaw, your father."

Lichenfang looked up as she heard pawsteps come her way and saw leopardclaw,her mate. She gave a small purr,glad he was there. Though this was his first time meeting his daughter's with their eyes open. She somewhat missed him being around more but his duties as the clan deputy seemed to take over more. So she took whatever she could


Orchidkit blinked as he sister batted her and she lauded her ears back playfully. She was about to leap at her sister playfully when she was interrupted by a new cat. His scent seemed familiar ish but she didn't know how. That was until he said he was their father. Giving a excited mew she jumped up some before letting her small paws land on his face or she attempted to."really well hi daddy"She mewed.

Birdkit had stopped suddenly and looked over to her sister. A new cat was approaching her. She took a couple steps towards them and cocked her head in confusion. He crouched down at their level and started to introduce himself. "Hello little ones, I'm Leopardclaw, your father.". A thought suddenly hit her. No wonder his scent was familiar. She cheerfully purred and tried to climb onto his back all the while her sister was speaking to him, "really well hi daddy". Birdkit was successful in getting atop her father and looked down onto his face from his head. "Hello father!" she squeaked excitedly.

Leopardclaw couldn't but chuckle a bit as Orchidkit placed her tiny paws on his muzzle, tickling his whiskers. Smiling, he gave her a quick, affectionate lick before noticing a certain pricking feeling crawling on his pelt. Making sure Orchidkit's paws were safely on the ground, he turned to try and see Birdkit but she had already climbed atop his head. Flicking his eyes upward, he caught a brief glimpse of her patched pelt and heard her small voice greet him. "Why hello there little warrior, how did you get so tall?" Feeling a release of the stress and worry that had plagued his heart since his promotion, the large warrior's hazel eyes glimmered playfully as he lowered his head to the ground in front of Orchidkit. "Do you want to climb on with your sister?" While waiting for her to decide, his eyes shifted over to Lichenfang and he let out an amused purr. "They sure are lively!"

Orchidkit gave a small squeak of excitement as he gave her an affectionate lick. She lowered her paws onto the ground shaking her head a bit before she stood tall again. She swueaked"I'm tall too daddy look!"She said trying to stand as tall as she could. That was until he offered for her to climb on and she nodded. Carefully but excitedly the small kit climbed up beside her sister.

Lichenfang purred watching them."of course they are"She purred padding over slowly. "They are more livelier then the last litter"She purred smiling.

"Look mother look!" Birdkit called out. "We're so tall!" She looked over at her sister as purred. She started to lick her father's ear, as a way to show him she loves him. She then started doing it to her sister. Suddenly she stopped. Her eyes sparkled as she looked around. She was "taller" than she was and now she can see even more beyond. She fixated her gaze onto a land that seemed to stretch out and never stop. "Mother, what's out there?"

With a soft laugh, Leopardclaw purred; "You sure are!" to tiny Orchidkit as she climbed carefully onto his head next to Birdkit. Though his neck ached a bit, he was able to keep both young she-kits on his broad head easily, smiling at their adventurous antics. Turning carefully, he purred a response to Lichenfang, face reflecting amusement and relief. "Yea, Reedpaw, Honeypaw and Cherrykit were pretty easy. I guess StarClan decided to bless us with a calm first litter." At the mention of that last kit, the tom felt a deep wave of sadness. Cherrykit had....died just after ThunderClan escaped the fire. The sweet calico had never quite recovered from Rockthorn's vicious attack on her life, and the smoke hadn't helped her condition. Rockthorn....he brought pain to so many innocent cats.... Though the fur along his spine flared a bit, he was able to calm down quickly when Birdkit started licking his ears. Yet, happiness always prevails.

Lichenfang nodded but when he mentioned Cherrykit. The queens sorrow seemed to seep through at the though of her daughter's death just before they had returned. She laid her ears flat for a moment never truly forgetting Cherrykit. Though she was brought back to the present when she heard Birdkit"Oh there is a lot you'll get to explore one day"she said purring.

Orchidkit smiled and licked the top of her father's head as she tried to settle down on it. She smiled brightly

As Birdkit got comfortable beside Orchidkit, her mind was still processing what her father said. "Yea, Reedpaw, Honeypaw and Cherrykit were pretty easy. I guess StarClan decided to bless us with a calm first litter." She was puzzeled. Who was father talking about? The more she pondered, the more curiosity got the best of her. She decided to ask. "Father, who were those cats you were talking about and also...what's StarClan?"
