Lost Bird pt 2 (open)

Luckily, the snow had eased up by the time he made it to the edge of WindClan's territory. The snow was still thick on the ground, but it was easier to navigate the unfamiliar territory of ThunderClan without snow in his eyes. After getting lost a few times, the tall tom eventually spotted the camp. He was not surprised he didn't encounter any warriors, as the snow had only just stopped falling. Politely, he walked into the camp, setting the kit down in the middle. "Hello?" Hollowbranch called. "I'm a WindClan warrior, but please don't attack. I come..." he looked down at the black kit at his feet. "With something you might want." Hollowbranch shifted awkwardly. This wasn't the most safe thing to do.

The little black kit sat herself down at Hollowbranch's paws and curled her tail daintily over her own, looking around the camp curiously. It smelled different from the previous one; neither were bad smells, just...different. She wrinkled her nose a little at how ingrained the scent seemed to be in this place, even with the snow dampening it a little. She liked that this Clan was in a forest, however. Those were better for hiding in.

She wasn't entirely sure what Hollowbranch seemed so nervous about. She wasn't worried, though.

Blizzardstar walked out from the shadows that had been hiding her from sight as she groomed her pelt. Her white pelt blending in almost perfectly with the snow and thick enough to not even let her feel the cold that had been a constant annoyance to many of her clanmates with shorter pelts. A true blessing during Leafbare…not so much during Greenleaf though. Her pose and expression were more surprised than aggressive, how could one of the cats from WindClan find their way to ThunderClan’s camp so easily? Had the fire caused that much damage to the forest that now without the protection of the foliage and the undergrowth thanks to Leafbare they were that easy to spot? Also what would’ve convinced the warrior to come all the way to the forest during a weather that had kept her own warriors inside their den to stay warm?

“You won’t be attacked, you can lower your guard now” The gentle voice of the white leader still reflected her surprise, but was more welcoming than anything else. WindClan and ThunderClan were in good terms and even if nothing official had been said she still considered the clan of the moors to be her allies and friends, she wouldn’t tolerate an attack on the ally warrior unless he was the one that attacked first “What brings you to…oh…” Her question was cut short when her eyes fell on the kit…she didn’t fully understand though, had one of their kits wandered off and somehow reached WindClan? Then again she liked to visit the nursery quite often and she could swear on StarClan that she never had seen this kit before.

She padded closer and sniffed the kit, hoping to find out based on its scent who was the kit’s mother, but instead of the scent of one of her queens it was the scent of the twolegplace what filled her nostrils “This kit isn’t ours…” She looked up at Hollowbranch with eyes full of confusion and questions but she said nothing, clearly expecting an explanation on why he had brought a rogue kit to her camp.

Leafstorm trotted after Blizzardstar, his face melting at the sight of the kit. Throwing caution to the winds, the fluffy brown tabby slowly approached the little creature, all but ignoring the Windclan cat.
"Hello there, what's your name?" He purred, crouching down and gently nosing her to check for wounds. The pair certainly looked windblown, and snow was falling fast. Luckily, they both looked well. (Or as well as they could be after traveling in such a storm)
Once he was certain the tiny kitten wasn't hurt, he gave her a decided lick and looked up to the Windclanner with a small grin and -remembering his place- took a few steps back.

Hollowbranch immediately calmed as much as he could, recognizing the beautiful she-cat. She was, so pretty. Her white tabbied pelt... He shook his head. Not the time, not the place, never going to happen. He tried not to react when she came close. He inwardly took a deep breath. He nodded when Blizzardstar said that it wasn't their kit, and was about to speak again when Leafstorm came up. He didn't react, and when Leafstorm spoke he started. "Yes, I know it isn't ThunderClan's kit. However, her mother abandoned her and left her in the snow. Ashstar doesn't take in kits, and we knew you do. We wanted to see if you would take her, at least until the snow clears so she doesn't die." He dipped his head, showing Blizzardstar that he was done speaking.

(OOC: So sorry to keep y'all waiting!! I've returned from my finals hiatus!)

Blackbird looked between the two adult cats curiously, blinking when the she-cat--another Clan leader, apparently--came over and sniffed her. She never caught this cat's name, she was too busy looking around the camp from where she sat. The conversation the adults were having didn't particularly interest her at the moment, so she turned her attention to the new cat that approached, a tom. He seemed very friendly, so she smiled and flicked her tail.

"My mama called me Blackbird," she said, purring a little at the lick he gave her. "She left me, though. I don't think she wants me anymore. I don't know why." Then she turned to Blizzardstar, taking a couple small kitten steps closer to her. She really was a very unafraid kit. "This is another Clan too, right? Are there more? This one's different than the other one, I think I like this one better. I thought you should know."

Blizzardstar sighed and nodded. She knew Ashstar was a kind leader, but her policy towards outsiders joining her clan was completely different from hers. At least it made her feel some kind of joy to know that Ashstar thrusted her enough to send only one warrior with a kit to seek a place for the little one to live, instead of either tossing the kit around between clans or send a whole patrol in fear of her attacking the messenger.

She fell silent for a couple seconds before letting out a long sigh “We will give her a home if you’re completely sure her original mother doesn’t wants her anymore…” She looked down at the kit with a smile “Blackbird, uh? Well…if you want to stay I’ll need to name you Blackkit, but later on you may be able to get you name back, little one. And yes, there are more clans around, five in total” In a clearly motherly way, Blizzardstar sat and wrapped her long fluffy tail around the kit to keep her warm. She then looked at the tom and with a small polite nod and her smile still on her muzzle she finally spoke to him again “You can tell Ashstar she has nothing to worry about. Do you need to be escorted back to the borders?” Usually she would offer the tom something to eat before going, but with the low fresh-kill pile she couldn’t allow herself to do so, even if she hated to appear rude by it.

Leafstorm shot Blizzardstar an anxious look. The last thing Thunderclan needed was a group of angry rouges and a war over a lost kit- it was difficult enough to get by already.
Still, he couldn't help smiling when the little kit introduced herself. "You're a brave little thing, aren't you?" He mewed, trying to hide his worry from the kit. The fluffy warrior took a small step forward when Blizzardstar offered to walk the Windclanner back to his territory. "I'd be glad to walk you back to the border. You've traveled a long way, you must be tired." He offered, glancing at Blizzardstar again. The sooner they got back to camp, the sooner Blackkit could be out of the storm and safe in the nursery.
