Flying of Feathers [Closed Hunting Patrol]

Mottleheart stood on the cusp of the WindClan camp, his gaze on the horizon as he waited for Pidgeonpaw. He had spent the time since the apprentice was named his to think on his feelings for the apprentice...And had come to the simple conclusion that Pidgeonpaw was a WindClan cat. He had been born a WindClan apprentice and so wrongly taken away...And had been returned to be a proper warrior. It was clear that Pidgeonpaw's time with the foul rogue Bear hadn't been...Kind - his jaw a clear sign of it and Mottleheart had settled on the prospect on showing Pidgeonpaw what it meant to be an honorable cat...He would teach him to the best of his abilities. But there was many things that Mottleheart would have to overcome - he didn't feel right teaching Pidgeonpaw how to fight so soon and while the idea of showing him the territory was an eager idea...Perhaps hunting would be good. He knew it would be challenging - Pidgeonpaw couldn't exactly kill his prey with a swift bite to the neck but he was certain a quick blow from the apprentice's paw to the neck would work as well. His eyes were narrowed as he stood there, the wind faintly brushing against his short coat as he waited for his apprentice. He wasn't going to let Ashstar down. He was going to make Pidgeonpaw the best warrior that he could.

IC: Pigeonpaw quickly groomed his dark gray fur as best as he could, his dangling tongue uncomfortably covering his muzzle with spit. Realizing that Mottleheart was waiting for him he quickly cleaned himself some more and padded over to his mentor. "Hi, Mottleheart!" he greeted the brown and white cat. "What are we doing?"

Mottleheart glanced over his shoulder as the young tom came padding up, finding his heart warm a little at the sight of him. It was going to be a challenge teaching Pidgeonpaw how to hunt with his jaw like that but...It was a challenge that the tom was willing to take. "Greetings Pidgeonpaw," he said lightly, trying to keep his tone neutral to reflect his new logical way of thinking. "We are going to be hunting," he explained as he turned, leading Pidgeonpaw from the camp and into the territory proper.

Pigeonpaw's moon yellow eyes widened at the prospect of hunting. "Ah, hunting!" he purred, "I knuh a lot about hunting. How tuh sneak up on mice, how to stay quiet on dry- wait. I guess you hunt differently." He shook his head and let out a sigh. "I am just about as experienced as a newborn." He didn't notice Mottleheart had already left and bounded after the brown and white tom. The wind and fresh air momentarily distracted him from his worries and he spent a moment looking at the beautiful plains before snapping back into attention. "So, uh, how do I start?" the gray tom asked.
