Lichenfang was quiet as she set down her mouse she caught. She has to pause for a moment curling her tail over her paws as she sat down. She watched Leopardclaw bring back a rabbit. She have a small purr"nice catch"she mewed remaining sat on the ground.

"Thanks." With a gentle smile, Leopardclaw padded over to where Lichenfang was seated and sat down next to her, his spotted golden fur blending with her dilute calico patterning. With a loving lick on the cheek, Leopardclaw wrapped his tail around her own and leaned against her shoulder gently, for a moment only wanting to hear her purring overlap with his own. Pulling away, the muscular tom gazed deeply into his mate's moss green eyes, and smiled. With a small chuckle, Leopardclaw tilted his head inquisitively and meowed in a blissful tone; "How did I ever get so lucky to have you?"

Lichenfang smiled before she have a small smile and looked to him."I don't know but you have me"she purred and was quiy for a moment smiling some as she calmly said as of it was nothing"you have us"she mewed. She had said us as if she meant her and what would possibly be kits but it wasn't too badly obvious she was expecting but she was.

For a moment Leopardclaw was confused; Us? What? Does she mean me and her, or....? Positively clueless, the golden spotted tabby tilted his head even more, desperately trying to understand her vague clue. Growing slightly embarrassed, the warrior gazed down at his paws for a moment to quell his sheepishness before glancing up at Lichenfang, his eyes desperately screaming 'help me out here'.

Lichenfang saw his confusion and she was quiet for a moment flicking her tail slightly at her flank/belly area as if to help a bit. She purred some before she stood slowly there was for a brief moment a glimpse of the roundness of expecting kits to her belly and she looked to him hoping that maybe he would understand her hunt if not she would have to tell him directly.

"Oh!"

Leopardclaw understood.  All at once, the tom's mind and heart were flooded with innumerable emotions all at once, most he couldn't even understand.  Shock, joy, excitement, protectiveness, and hope; all were reflected in his voice when he finally was able to speak.  "You're expecting kits?!"  His eyes wide and shining with pure joy, Leopardclaw let out a delighted cry as he dashed forward, pressing his forehead aginst Lichenfang's with a sputter of blissful laughter.  "You're expecting kits!  We're going to be parents!"  Heart racing, the large golden tabby pulled back and smiled widely, his hazel eyes glowing.  "Oh Lichenfang....this...this is the best day of my life!  I promise, I will be the best father to our kits; I..I'll watch over them and train them...and...I'll always be there for all of you."  Almost running out of breath, Leopardclaw gazed down at his paws for a moment before speaking again, his voice filled with fierce emotion.  "I swear...as long as I live...these kits will never go through what we went through.  They will grow up feeling loved, and in the best home the forest has...."  Looking up with watering eyes, he hoped that his mate could see and understand everything he was trying to say.  These kits - my kits - will never be alone like I was.  They will be ThunderClan born and bred, no matter our origins, and always feel welcome here. We can make up...for our parent's sins.

Lichenfang blinked before she have a gentle smile and a soft purr. She nuzzled him quietly before she looked at him"I know you will "she mewed. She sat beside him quietly"I will too they will always know they are loved"she mewed.

Leopardclaw nodded, his eyes still filled with light as his mind continued to process this revelation. Me, a father! Oh StarClan, help me! I don't know how to be a dad, Grasswhisker never trained me for this! Is it just like being a mother, just as a tom, or something else? Trying to fight off a brief bout of anxious excitement, the golden spotted tabby leaned against his mate and purred, for a moment just relishing in this amazing moment. Turning, he met Lichenfang's mossy gaze and meowed excitedly; "What do you think they'll look like? How many do you think there will be? Toms or she-cats? Oh StarClan, I'm so excited!" Laughing a bit, Leopardclaw's voice quieted and he bent down a bit closer to his calico mate. "With any luck they'll have your beautiful eyes."

Lichenfang purred softly. Though her doubts were getting to her she had never had kits before would she even be a good mother. She was quiet as she purred. His questions overwhelmed her."I don't know but I'm sure they will be the most loved kits in Thunderclan"she mewed purring. She sat down slowly.

"Yea." His voice ringing with a wistful tone, Leopardclaw smiled tenderly down at his expecting mate before rising to his paws. Trotting over to where they had left their prey, the golden spotted tabby picked up first Lichenfang's catches, bringing them over to her, before going back and grabbing his own. His voice slightly muffled by the fresh-kill hanging from his jaws, the tom meowed; "We should go back to camp, and you should go see Sparkflower!" With a protective glint in his hazel eyes, Leopardclaw glanced down at Lichenfang with a kindly stern look. He couldn't help but remember the first and only kitting he had ever seen; Grasswhisker's. His mentor had died giving birth to her daughter Cinderpaw, and the other kit had been stillborn. The golden tom wanted to take all precautions possible to avoid any of that for his mate and kits.
